About Thali
Thali is a fine dining Indian restaurant at 166 Old Brompton Rd in London, serving North Indian and fusion dishes at tables set with white tablecloths. The kitchen cooks chukander gosht, a beetroot-and-lamb dish, and sends out a fish sampler for two as an appetizer platter that includes tandoori salmon. A thali set platter is also on the menu, and vegetarian options sit alongside the meat and fish dishes. The restaurant keeps a private dining room for groups that want a table of their own.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return to Thali for its North Indian cooking, with the tandoori salmon in a fish sampler and the chukander gosht, described as melting in the mouth, named as standouts. Palak chat, dal makhani and naan also appear in one reviewer's order, and others call the curry the best they have had in a long time. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, courteous and attentive, and one reviewer says a small customization request was handled. Several describe a relaxed atmosphere with white tablecloths but casual dress. Portions draw the main caveat: one reviewer finds the thali quantity a bit less, and another calls the portions definitely small and the flavour typical of high street Indian. One longtime regular describes a night when a large group of about 20 tourists was prioritised, starters arrived within 15 minutes, and mains were still missing more than an hour after arrival. Several reviewers say they have dined here many times without a bad experience.

“I come from Northern California where there’s a large Indian population, and there are many Indian restaurants. The food I had this evening was better than most all that I’ve had at home. Service was also excellent, and it was reasonably priced given the cost of other London restaurants I’ve experienced recently. Thali won’t disappoint.”
