  “I was originally going to get twists at Jerusalem hair salon when Jummy’s assistant pulled me in. They started berating me for going to Somali people when I’m Nigerian and I should support Nigerian businesses, feeling uncomfortable I stayed. We proceeded with the twists where Jummy originally quoted me £120 for a simple hair style I talked her down to £70. The twists were very bulky and I wanted them to look natural, when the hairstyle wasn't done I expressed my concerns and she said it would be fixed at the end. It was not fixed. Towards the end the assistant used hot water and mousse on the twists and to be completely honest it looked a mess, everyone was trying to gaslight that it looked nice. When I went to pay Jummy tried to make me pay £80. I had yo take out the hair the day after, I am so disappointed by the fact they couldn’t execute a simple style well. I frequently go back to Nigeria and if she says I should support Nigerian businesses keep your hair business to the same standard like the ones back home. The place also wasn’t very clean, she kept trying to market her hair cream to me saying I have a dry scalp and I didn’t like the way Jummy treated her workers. Overall go somewhere else.”

  “Another excellent experience. Had my braids taken out, then a wash treatment and cornrows. Fast service , clean environment (yes including the toilet), friendly staff and the teamwork is impeccable. Will be back to do crochet braids, highly recommend this salon”

  “I walked by with my friend who was visiting me, and we went in with no booking looking for two wash and blowdrys. Jummy welcomed us in and did both hair styles with a smile on her face the whole time!! She made us feel so comfortable and we ended up not only leaving with beautiful hair for our night out but also some wise words from her that we will remember forever! I will definitely be back!!”

  “Jummy absolutely saved our lives. Me and my best friend came in without an appointment for a wash and a blow dry and we got not only the best treatment but had a great time and good conversation with her. Her hair products were so good and smelled amazing. We left looking beautiful and feeling so refreshed. Definitely would recommend if you’re coming to killburn.”

  “NEVER NEVER NEVER GO. - TRAUMATISED FROM MY EXPERIENCE - HORRIBLE UNSKILLED OWNER. I had an extremely distressing experience and would strongly advise others to think carefully before booking. I went to Jummy for single plaits. My hair was hip-length and healthy beforehand. During the appointment, the service was very rough and uncomfortable. My hair was handled aggressively, and the ends were cut in a careless and inappropriate way without proper care or discussion. Hygiene was also a concern. My scalp was heavily saturated with product, which I later had to wash out myself. The overall environment felt unprofessional; there was constant gossiping, and I was repeatedly pressured to purchase products. The assistant was also very rough and didn't know what she was doing. At one point, I felt I had to step in and manage parts of my own hair, which should never happen as a client. I ended up taking the style out in under a week to treat my hair and scalp. The experience was upsetting, especially as I hadn’t been to a hairdresser in years and trusted this appointment. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing and uncomfortable experience, and I would never return, which has made me swear off hairdressers. Such a shame, I got my hair to a healthy length and managed it with care, and I went to someone who destroyed it in under 2 hrs - I lost 6 inches of length I am so distraught.”

  “Hi, I recently had my hair braided at Jummy. First, one of her employees combed my hair, which didn’t hurt at all. After my hair was smooth, she divided it into sections and then started braiding at an incredibly fast speed. The beginning hurt a little bit, but she told me that this would help the braids last longer—and that’s true, because my box braids still look beautiful. When I say fast, I really mean it: what my sister needed two hours to do only took her about 30 minutes. Jummy was also very friendly to me, and the price was completely fair. My scalp hurt a bit on the first day when I lay down, but by the second day it was fine again and I could sleep normally.”

  “If you care about the integrity and health of your hair AVOID this place at all costs. It has been 2 months since I made the mistake of visiting this salon and my hair is still recovering. Jummy plaited my cornrows so tight (despite me telling her several times to loosen her grip) that my hair fell out by the follicle. I took the hair out after a week and my hair had thinned significantly with noticeable bald spots. This has never happened to me in all my years of getting cornrows. On top of this the braids were poorly done. During my appointment I had to ask her to start my braids three times as her braiding skills are not neat. The braids were not uniform, they were crooked and bulky. Instead of trying to fix the issue she began to gaslight me into thinking that that’s how cornrows are supposed to look and that I just needed to trust the process. On her third attempt I decided to give in and trust the process but regret doing so. The thing that concerned me most was that she tried to blame this all on not using gummy (even though I told her I was allergic) and that my hair texture was too soft. Very unprofessional and unpleasant experience that I am STILL recovering from.”
