THE ROCHESTER CAFE
Quick info
About THE ROCHESTER CAFE
On Rochester Row, The Rochester Cafe operates as a coffee shop, brunch restaurant and deli serving breakfast through lunch. The menu runs from a full English breakfast to cakes and pastries such as an almond croissant, alongside cappuccinos, a babycino, and a pumpkin latte. Halal food options are available. The space is small with limited seating, so it is not suited to large groups, though outdoor seating gives an option for eating outside. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance serves visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs make it workable for families with young children. It opens daily, and reservations are recommended given the limited indoor space.

Customer Review Summary
The full English breakfast draws the most praise, with reviewers repeatedly calling it delicious and satisfying alongside quality coffee and cappuccinos. Close behind, the almond croissant earns specific mention as generously sized and oozing with filling, and the pumpkin latte and brownie both get called out as standouts. Several diners single out the warmth of the staff, with one server praised repeatedly by name for friendliness across multiple visits, and another visit highlighting a barista's coffee. The space itself gets described as small but welcoming, good for people watching, though one reviewer notes it isn't suited to large groups. One reviewer, however, describes a starkly different visit, reporting stone cold food including a solid chunk of tomato, spongy mushrooms, microwaved-tasting sausage and hashbrown, and tables that appeared dirty, calling the meal not worth the money despite liking the decor. A separate review also flags that the toilet lacked paper towels and had cleaning utensils left out. Despite this, most describe quick service and chefs personally checking on satisfaction, with several saying they'd return.

“I came in yesterday and Bedriye was the sweetest, kindest lady. She served us with such a warm and friendly attitude and made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely lovely and everything was served perfectly. Bedriye’s excellent customer service really made our visit even more enjoyable. She was attentive, helpful, and always had a smile on her face. We had a great experience and will definitely be back again. Thank you, Bedriye, for making our visit so special”

“The food was STONE COLD the tomato was just a solid chunk, not great. The mushrooms were spongy and nasty. The sausage and hashbrown felt like they were warmed up in the microwave. And the TABLES were dirty and covered in what seemed like wax. The eggs were snotty and tasteless despite a pathetic attempt at what seemed like seasoning. Overall. Horrible. Not worth the money. The decor is nice though, it's the only thing it has going for it.”

“The food came quickly and was delicious. I especially recommend the brownie (not in the picture). The staff is also very nice. The toilet could be improved, paper towels were missing and cleaning utensils were laying around. All in all great value for money.”
