About Kapihan

Kapihan is a coffee shop and bakery at 138 Battersea Park Rd in London, serving coffee made from hand-roasted Filipino beans. Matcha is also on the menu, and the ube drinks include an iced ube latte. The bakery side covers sweet and savoury pastries, and the croque manang is made with the shop's own pandesal, mustard and gammon. For lunch, a chicken adobo rice bowl set comes with calamansi iced tea. Gluten-free options are available among the baked goods. The shop is small with limited seating, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the chocolate churro bibingka, described as soft, fluffy and full of flavour, with one first-timer saying they were hooked on bibingka. Close behind are the tapsilog, praised for well marinated beef, and the coffee, called smooth and surprisingly good, with one noting the beans are hand roasted Filipino beans from London. Also mentioned are the croque manang with pandesal and gammon, the chicken adobo rice bowl paired with calamansi iced tea, adobo buns, and ube items such as the iced ube latte and ube cheese bomba. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly, and one reviewer mentions plenty of gluten free options. The main complaints are practical: the shop is small, so one reviewer cautions seating may not always be available, and another was disappointed that tapsilog is no longer served on weekdays and found the food a bit too salty. Others note the dog-friendly setup, and one describes a warm drink arriving quickly alongside takeaway orders.

“Delicious food from a small, freshly prepared menu. Was very good for both lunch as well as take-away baked goods. The coffee is also surprisingly good. Staff is very friendly. Be mindful that the shop is small so might not always have seating.”

“It was ok. a bit too salty but otherwise ok. coffee is good. was a bit disappointed as they stopped serving tapsilog on weekdays. 🥺 we were looking forward to having it. but the service and place itself is great.”
  • Kayeon Yoo
“It’s my favourite place to go for black coffee. Their specialty coffees are quite unique and super delicious. My partner loves their adobo buns and we also appreciate that the cafe is dog-friendly.”
  • Kevin Lin
“Small cafe with amazing coffee and great pastries. First time trying Bibinkas and I’m hooked - a nice dense but soft pastry, moist and delicious.”
  • Artem Yashkin
“A truly hidden gem. I popped in during a morning run without any expectations, took chocolate churro bibingka and it was absolutely out of this world. Incredibly fluffy, ideally baked, with a unique coconut flavour and elegant pieces of chocolate. For price less than £4 it is an amazing value. The atmosphere of the place is also really cosy, and the stuff is very kind and attentive. I am already dreaming about returning to this place one day. Update: also recommend to try iced ube latte here, ube cheese bomba and other ube-flavoured desserts. One of the best options in the city.”
