Quick info
About Grind at the National Theatre
Grind at the National Theatre is a coffee shop in London, set inside a theatre bar with pink decor throughout. A door leads from the cafe into the theatre area, and a large seating area fills the interior. The drinks list covers hot and iced coffees, with oat milk available, and matcha comes in a cherry version. Baristas talk customers through the syrup options, so adding a flavour is easy to sort out at the counter. Banana bread is a recurring item on the food side, alongside cakes and snacks. The bar also serves espresso martinis, with a deal on Fridays.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee draws the most praise, with reviewers calling it outstanding and beautiful, and one saying the iced mocha was really good though on the small side. Close behind is the staff, with several describing friendly baristas, one who talked through the syrups, and one who made espresso martinis for a Friday deal that a reviewer ordered repeatedly. The complaints are specific. One regular found an oat latte with caramel had no caramel, was half filled and tasted like water and instant powder, and called the banana bread dry and stale. Another found the scone cream rock hard with barely any jam, and described staff as brisk, verging on rude. A third was told to add sugar to an iced latte themselves, which made for an unpleasant drink, and one noted a drink placed on a dirty surface. One reviewer's matcha arrived iced on a freezing day and was remade hot for free.

“Asked for an iced latte with 1 sugar. Checked when picking it up that sugar had been added as I didn’t see it go in and was told to add it myself. Unfortunately, the sugar needs to be added to the hot coffee so this made for an unpleasant drink. This is a standard request in coffee shops so disappointing staff haven’t been trained on this.”

“went before seeing a show for a quick pick me up as i had just been broken up with the day before, got a cappuccino and banana bread (although that reminded me of my ex and I wish I hadn't bought it he always used to make banana bread). Was treated wonderfully by rachel and anita who recommended me the banana bread which I should have probably not bought.”
