About Happy Valley
At 6 Richmond Rd in London, Happy Valley is a Chinese takeaway open daily. The salt and pepper family box is the dish to start with for a shared order, and salt and pepper chips are on the menu for anyone who wants them separately. Customer Review Summary
Reviews of this Chinese takeaway split sharply, and the most repeated complaint is rude staff. Several describe dismissive or "bolshy" servers, and one longtime customer says friendly staff were replaced after what they suspect was a change of ownership. Another reviewer says the staff told them not to order again when they asked for a refund. Food quality draws just as much criticism. Reviewers report stale salt and pepper chips, hard rice, a mixed veg dish that was mostly onions, and Shredded Duck Fried Rice with no duck. One says the crispy duck smelled like dog food and binned the order, and another found a long black hair in their soup and got no reply. Order mistakes also come up, including a missing cucumber and spring onion for the crispy duck, though the takeaway gave free jasmine tea and mini veg spring rolls. Praise centers on the Pork Belly, along with generous portions, flavoursome dishes, quick delivery and a freebie in the bag on bigger orders. One fan notes the salt and pepper family box had sold out.

“I have been using this restaurant for over 10 yrs. , but recently their standards are slipping . From the courteous and friendly staff that was , has been swapped for rude and bolshy servers . I do believe that it has been taken over or sold !! Defy will not be ordering from here again , I will take my custom elsewhere to “ Fortune House “ on Leyton high road , friendlier staff and no attitude !”

“I had a very disappointing experience at this shop. The customer service was extremely rude and unhelpful. When I asked a simple question about a product, the staff responded with an impatient attitude and made me feel unwelcome. Instead of helping customers, they seemed annoyed that I was there. Good service is just as important as good products, and unfortunately this shop failed in that regard. I won’t be returning and would not recommend it to others based on my experience.”

“OK our experience today. Telephoned order of: Half a Crispy Duck Spare ribs Special fried rice Prawn toast When collected and at home I found: A) There was a spicy chicken wing dish we'd not ordered* B) There was no cucumber and spring onion to accompany the crispy duck and pancakes!!.** C) The prawn toast was dry and tasteless. Not in small pieces but as half a slice. Note: They did kindly provide some free jasmin tea & some free mini veg spring rolls Sadly, I'd not order from here again as feel attention to detail & getting an order right is important in any retail food establishment * But we paid for!+ * In 43yrs as an adult I have NEVER had these missing in ANY Chinese takeaway 😔”

“Food is always spot on…always friendly when picking up or delivery is under 30 mins. Stage dishes are flavoursome and I cannot recommend the Pork Belly enough… Always get a freebie in the bag too when you spend over a certain amount”

“Not a great Chinese takeaway, tried it for the first time but fairly disappointed. I don’t think I’ll go there again.”
