Customer Review Summary
Prawn toast is the item reviewers praise most, described as thick with prawn and meaty, with soft tender ribs, chicken satay skewers, Singapore noodles, crispy shredded beef, dry ho fun and dim sum close behind. Several mention generous portions that stretch to a third person, food arriving hot, free fortune cookies, and helpful handling of allergies and vegan requests. Delivery gets a friendly mention from one family, though another reviewer says delivery times run long and suggests ordering in advance. The recurring complaint is sweetness. One reviewer got spicy beef and black bean sauce that was too sweet, another found a yellow bean dish with pineapple to be just sugar, and one finds the food occasionally slightly salty. One Christmas Eve order arrived without the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken balls, and the restaurant said it could not send one because the address was too far. One regular who visited in person describes the shop as shabby and worn out and in need of a lick of paint, while still calling the food great as always.

“Food wise one of the best Chinese’s! Flavour is 10/10. Price is pricy but worth it! Delivery times are a little bit on the long side so order in advance :)”

“We recently moved to the area and had a couple of bad experiences with Chinese takeaway, but last night we were sooo impressed with Gourmet House food! All the dishes were beautifully rich in flavour, very generous portions sizes and the delivery was super fast. They just became our regular Chinese takeaway!”

“Ordered a takeaway on Christmas Eve. They forgot to pack the Sweet and Sour Sauce with the Chicken Balls. Called them and they said they couldn’t send it because it was too far. Accused the driver of losing it when the bag was tied, highly doubt a delivery driver would steal a sauce alone. Don’t risk ordering from here on a special occasion. If I wanted chicken nuggets I would have gone to McDonald’s.”
