About Beijing House
Beijing House is a Chinese takeaway at 33 Balaam St in London, open Tuesday to Sunday evenings and closed on Mondays. The kitchen cooks a range of noodle dishes, including Singapore noodles and dry beef ho fun, with chow mein built around beef as one of the options. Chippy chips are sold alongside the Chinese dishes, so one evening order can combine both. Chilli oil is available on the side for adding heat at the table. Fortune cookies come with orders.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food arriving hot and flavourful, with the crispy wontons, beef chow mein, dry beef ho fun and the beef and mushroom dish singled out by name. Close behind are the large pancake roll, BBQ spare ribs, dumplings, salt and pepper wings and crispy aromatic duck, along with chilli oil on the side and fortune cookies thrown in. Several call it their favourite or the best in the area, citing good portions and reasonable prices, and one northerner says it is the closest thing to a Chinese from up north. The negatives are specific. One reviewer found the Singapore noodles overly curry powdery and the chow mein bland, while another called the chicken satay inedible, with too much fish sauce, and the sweet and sour sauce too vinegary. That same reviewer got no status update on an Uber Eats delivery until the hotel front desk called to say it had arrived. One reviewer who loves the place suggests ordering direct by phone or website to avoid app charges.

“The food is always so good and hot. Since moving to London from north England I found it hard to find a good Chinese but they are great and closest thing you’ll get to a Chinese from up north. They even sell chippy chips😍”

“To be fair, weve never had a bad dish, so much so that we experiment with different dishes that wouldnt be our normal order. On occasion, one or two dishes will be more dry/have less sauce than youd expect/weve had before but thats not taking away from the taste. We live far away so not been into the place but always had good customer service on the phone and from the delivery drivers. One tip for customers wanting delivery - order direct, either on the phone or on their website, not through an app or youll get the app's extra charges”

“Just ordered take away here for a second time on Uber Eats: we had the beef chow mein and dry beef ho fun. The food is excellent, really great flavours and good portions. Chow mein in this style is hard to get but they do it really well. Highly recommend.”

“I ordered delivery from this restaurant through Uber eats. I was informed when I submitted the order, that the delivery would be taking place through the restaurant. Therefore, the delivery time would not be as exact as if it were truly taking place through Uber eats. So I was checking the app pretty frequently just to see what the updates were, and the entire time was seeing that the restaurant was preparing the order. Until I got a phone call from the front desk where I’m staying asking me if I had ordered food because they were in the lobby. So there was no type of notification provided to me regarding the updated order status. Now let’s talk about the food. The chicken balls were pretty good. They were still very hot and crispy and definitely what I was looking for. The sweet-and-sour sauce was way too vinegary and it had a weird spice to it, almost like cinnamon or something like that. The chicken satay was not good. In fact it was inedible. The fish sauce flavor was way too strong, and the dishes itself needed salt, which is kind of impressive when you consider how salty fish sauce is. And they didn’t even include like a small container of rice. I had not ordered rice because the only rice option on the menu was almost the same price as the entrée which led me to believe that there was a small container provided for you and that if you wanted the extra rice, you would have to pay for it. But I guess that was not the case. Overall, I did not enjoy the food and I will not order from this restaurant anymore during my stay here in London.”
