About Southwark Park Pavilion Cafe
Southwark Park Pavilion Cafe is a cafe in London, set inside Southwark Park on Southwark Park Rd. Architects Bell Phillips designed the building with curved glass walls, so the seats look out to the lake at the back and the lawn at the front. The kitchen runs a seasonal hot food menu through the day, and sourdough pizzas come from the oven alongside specialty coffee blends. Sandwiches and meals are served with a side salad. Vegan choices include cookies and sausage rolls, and gluten-free options are on the menu as well. The cafe operates on a walk-in basis.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return mostly for the park setting, with lake-side seats and big glass panels looking onto the lawn and pond, described as tranquil on a sunny day. The food draws steady praise too: a BLT with crispy bacon and well-baked bread, a sandwich one child loved, and a side salad several single out for its generous portion. Others mention gluten-free options and vegan cookies and sausage rolls, and the staff are repeatedly called lovely and friendly. One reviewer notes that dogs are welcome inside. Prices are the most common complaint, with several calling the food pricey. A few link this to a change of management and a chain takeover that they feel lowered the quality. One reviewer says tables were left with plates and tissues from previous customers and that diners end up clearing their own, while another says the utensils could be cleaner. One diner who enjoyed the BLT found the coffee and fries arrived lukewarm.

“Staff are always lovely, but having lived in the area for 4 years, it's sad to see what was a cheap-and-cheerful cafe be gentrified by the beast that is Colicci. Food and drink is really overpriced and not fab quality and all money is ultimately going to a chain, not supporting a local business as was previously. It's also sad that none of the staff who worked there pre-Colicci are here now. Gorgeous views onto the lake outdoor. I would suggest visiting Nono instead (near the Kirby estate entrance to the park), homemade goods, small business and nearly half the price for much better quality!”

“What a fantastic place to go and have a cup of tea, breakfast or lunch. My favourite cafe in London. Great views in the park. A perfect place all year round. And so many good "non gluten" options.”

“Great place overall—I really appreciate that our furry companions are welcome inside, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is pleasant, and it’s clear that the staff put effort into creating a welcoming environment. That said, I do feel that the prices are slightly on the higher side for what is offered. Additionally, there is some room for improvement when it comes to cleanliness, particularly with the utensils, which could be maintained to a higher standard. On a positive note, the staff are genuinely very helpful and kind, always ready to assist and ensure customers feel comfortable. With a bit more attention to pricing and cleanliness, this place could easily become a top choice.”

“Coming since the coffee is open for the firt time. Used to be very good. Since new management is very bad. Over priced. Not service at all if you order coffee to have inside and muffins or something to eat you will become self employed, and most of the time you find something on the table unclean and you have to do it. Very dirty on the back with plates tissue and stuff from previous customers. So they don’t care just take the order. Shame on. The best thing is the park and relax you will get from this place.”

“I normally come here for lunch. Recently the owner has changed. I did google check if they changed the menu. Then I catched some bad reviews about the new system that made me feel afraid to come. But at the end I was so happy, the price is up a bit but you pay what you get. My son was in love with his best sandwich. I was in love with the little salad on the side. Perfect treat in middle of the park for a day out 🥰”
