Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the full English breakfast, described as fresh, generous and cooked well, and several call the portions huge or "hella big." Fish and chips comes up as a lunch pick from visitors seeking classic local food, and one reviewer lists sandwiches, leg of lamb and chicken casserole on the lunch menu. Close behind is the family running the place, repeatedly called friendly, warm and welcoming, with the chef and his wife singled out by two reviewers. Prices come up constantly as affordable, and one reviewer says a full breakfast costs less than a fast food chain meal. Reviewers describe the atmosphere as local and not at all fancy, with a market setting and a mostly older crowd. One reviewer who has eaten here since childhood says little has changed. The one practical complaint is that it is cash only, according to one reviewer. A dropped knife replaced immediately is one of the small service moments reviewers mention.

“Jack's is a wonderful diner-type "restaurant" set right in the middle of the East Street Market, which, by the way, must be the cheapest fruit and veg market in all of London. At Jack's, you can have breakfasts of all sorts, plus full lunches from sandwiches to fish & chips to leg of lamb to chicken casserole, with HUGE portions. It's home style, not at all fancy, and the clientele is local. Prices are unbelievably reasonable. Once we found Jack's, we came here repeatedly. It's open only 7am to 4pm, closed Mondays, when the market is also closed. But the best thing about Jack's is the family who run it. They are from the Turkish part of Cyprus, and they are wonderful, kind human beings, always ready to accommodate even the stupidest requests. Our highest recommendation.”

“I had a fantastic experience at Jack’s Café. I ordered the traditional English breakfast and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, generous, and perfectly cooked. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, the kind of genuine hospitality you expect from a family-run place. They made me feel very welcome from the moment I walked in. The prices are also very affordable, especially considering the quality of the food and the location in London. If you’re in London and want a proper traditional breakfast in a friendly, authentic atmosphere, this is definitely a place worth visiting. I’ll happily come back next time I’m in the city.”
