About Honest Burgers South Kensington

Honest Burgers South Kensington is a hamburger restaurant on Thurloe St in London, serving burgers made with British beef, chicken, or vegetarian and vegan options. Homemade rosemary chips come alongside the burgers in a portion sized for one person. Guests ordering gluten-free can have a gluten-free bun, and a dedicated gluten-free fryer is kept for those orders. The Local burger pairs beef with bacon, halloumi, tzatziki, pickled red onions and rocket, while the smashed cheese burger comes with onions, mayo mustard and pickles. Sides include onion rings, halloumi fries and loaded fries. The team brings orders to the table, and seating is on stools.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the burgers, with the "Local" burger (beef, bacon, halloumi, tzatziki, pickled red onions) singled out as one of the best one reviewer has tasted, and a classic beef burger and grilled chicken also praised. Close behind are the chips and fries, described as generous, tasty and fragrant with herbs, and friendly table service that several mention. One diner with celiac disease credits the staff's grasp of cross contamination, a dedicated fryer and a small gluten free bun charge. Complaints are mixed but specific: the smashed burger patty was thin and still pink inside, another burger was a bit dry, and some feel the burgers used to be bigger and better. Onion rings drew both praise and a note that they were overly oily, the sweet chilli jam with halloumi fries disappointed one reviewer, and the stools were uncomfortable for one group. One reviewer says a burger's cranberry sauce can be left off on request.

“Overall nice experience, but a bit confusing about how the system worked and sometimes hard to get staff's attention. I really disliked the sweet chilli jam that came with the halloumi fries. It wasn't sweet nor chilli, and hardly a jam. Other than that the food was perfectly fine, very normal food. I only had loaded fries so maybe I would have been wowed if I had a burger”

“The food was good, a decent burger with chips. The staff was friendly and the food is worth the price. The only real downside my group experienced was that the chairs (stools) were not that comfortable but still ok. Cushions would be a good addition. The restaurant has a nice rustic look.”

“Had a fantastic experience at Honest Burgers in South Kensington yesterday! A special mention to the Italian gentleman who served us — he was absolutely brilliant. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel genuinely special. His service was professional but also warm and personal, which really stood out to us. The food was excellent, but honestly, the outstanding service made the visit even better. It's always refreshing to come across someone who clearly takes pride in looking after customers and creates such a positive atmosphere. We'll definitely be coming back, and hopefully we'll see y again! A real credit to the restaurant!”

“Decent burger and still very affordable for London considering you get table service. The burgers used to be better and I feel that they were slightly bigger too. Anyway, still a good choice for a quick bite and very cost effective too. Would recommend but it is not one of “the greats” in London; there are now better places.”

“overall we really enjoyed it. portions were quite generous, especially the fries — we got way more than expected and they were really tasty. the burger was good too, just a bit dry for our taste. service was great as well, we’d come back.”
