About The Pig and Butcher
On Liverpool Rd in London, The Pig and Butcher is a gastropub that buys its produce direct from farms and, where possible, from British suppliers. The wine list is full, and guests are also welcome to bring their own bottle. The menu includes a sharing pie, pork belly and a porchetta roast, with cauliflower cheese made with Ogleshield served as a side. The pub is laid out as two distinct dining areas, so parties can be seated in separate spaces. A private dining room is also available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast draws the most mentions, with the porchetta described as extremely crispy outside and juicy inside, and the cauliflower cheese with Ogleshield singled out among the sides. Close behind, the steak and chips split opinion: one table called the steak very well cooked with the best chips and peppercorn sauce in a long while, while another found it just ok with gristle and cold chips. The sharing pie, pork belly, desserts, and a good wine list also earn praise, and a scotch egg is called a bit salty. Service is mostly described as friendly, prompt, and attentive, and the private dining room suited a wedding celebration. The sharpest complaint comes from a returning roast regular who says standards have slipped: dry, fatty lamb, tough crackling, chewy potatoes, and lukewarm plates. That reviewer also found the room very hot despite fans and the music far too loud. One reviewer says a reservation is essential as the place fills quickly, and a Monday lunch visit felt uncrowded with prompt service.

“Definitely a gastronomic experience. The attention to detail that both the chef and the pastry chef had were exceptional. The service and atmosphere complimented the lovely dinner we had. It's a definite go-to-place for a nice dinner in London. Thank you for making our evening very special.”

“Had a lovely dinner here. They have a good wine menu and the food was delicious. They also have air conditioning!”

“Disappointing visit, not as good as it used to be. This used to be our favourite Sunday roast in london however after the last 2 visits, the food standard has definitely dropped. The lamb roast lacked flavour, had a lot of fat but was also dry at the same time. The pork crackling was tough and inedible. The potatoes were dry and chewy on the outside and dusty on the inside. Food was served less than 5 minutes after ordering, however it came out lukewarm / room temperature (not hot) and didn’t taste all that fresh. Staff were lovely and accomodating when we wanted to move seats from the sun. However the room was like a baking oven and air conditioning and ceiling fans were insufficient. Even though I wanted to have dessert I decided against it as I couldn’t sit in the heat any longer. Music was also insanely loud like I was in a club which made for a less than enjoyable experience. Sadly won’t be back to pig and butcher”

“We truly had the most amazing experience at the Pig and Butcher celebrating our wedding with our friends and family. The private dining room was perfect for all of us. Every single person within the group absolutely loved all of the food. The drinks and the service by Claudio was outstanding. We would recommend this spot for anyone celebrating something special.”

“Recently, I went to have a Sunday roast with my gangs. Overall, the food was very delicious and the service was also excellent. We visited early, so we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably, but the place quickly became full of customers, so making a reservation is essential. Deffo come back again”
