About Lion & Unicorn
Lion & Unicorn is a pub in London, open daily at 42-44 Gaisford St. The Sunday roast comes with a choice of lamb, beef or pork belly, and a gluten-free version is served with a gluten-free Yorkshire pudding. Customer Review Summary
Gluten free dining is what reviewers return to most, especially the gluten free Sunday roast. Several with coeliac disease describe a lamb roast dinner with a huge gluten free Yorkshire pudding, and one praises locally baked gluten free bread. Reviewers say staff checked dishes against other allergens and that the kitchen has separate gluten free fryers. Close behind are the other roasts, with pork belly, lemon chicken and beef singled out as well seasoned, generous and delicious, plus a sticky toffee pudding. Service is called friendly and quick, and the beers on tap and a thyme gin and tonic special get a mention. The outdoor seating is described as a pleasant sun trap with shade available. Criticism is small but specific. One reviewer found the roast potatoes not very crispy and the cauliflower cheese a bit too sour, and another says the artificial grass is littered with roll-up tobacco ends and dead flower heads while some outdoor tables look worn and damaged. One diner's celiac-friendly roast was, in their words, everything they had hoped for.

“Lovely pub, with very pleasant outdoor seating. staff are professional and very nice. Our server, Carol, was great. The gluten free Sunday roast was everything I had been hoping for: so tasty and sumptuous! Warmly recommend. Will definitely be coming back!”

“Love The Unicorn in Kentish Town, but I can’t help noticing it’s starting to look a little neglected in places. The artificial grass could really do with a sweep to clear away the roll-up tobacco ends and dead flower heads, and some of the outdoor tables are looking quite worn and damaged, which lets the place down a bit. It’s such a great pub with a lovely atmosphere, so I really hope the team put a little more effort into the upkeep. A bit of attention to these details would make a big difference.”

“Excellent service and the lamb, beef and pork belly roasts, and gravy were all delicious. The potatoes weren’t very crispy and the Cauliflower cheese was a bit too sour for my taste. That said I really enjoyed the ambiance and the service was truly excellent. Will be back.”
