About Boston Arms

Boston Arms is a family-owned Victorian pub at 178 Junction Rd in Tufnell Park, London, open daily. Pool tables sit in both the front and back areas, and screens showing football and rugby are visible from every seat. Darts, table football and fruit machines add to the games on offer. The servery runs along the left-hand side, with high tables in the centre and banquette seating around the edges, while Chesterfields sit behind a partition in the front area. Beers are mostly keg, with Jubel lager with peach on tap. The kitchen makes pizza in front of customers, including the Numbskull, and the food menu also lists fish and chips. Plastic glasses replace glass when a match is on. The Dome and Boston Music Room are close by, which makes the pub a pre-gig stop for music fans.

Customer Review Summary

Live sport on big screens is what reviewers raise most, with rugby and football both showing and one noting that screens are visible from every seat. Two pool tables and the beer selection sit close behind, including the Jubel lager with peach and an excellent pint of Pravha, and one reviewer suggests it for drinks before a gig. Pizza also draws praise, with the numbskull singled out, while the traditional fish and chips and a chicken burger get good words from another diner. Staff are called welcoming and friendly, and one reviewer mentions a kind chef. Some details disappoint: one diner found the chips just lukewarm, with vinegar and sauces served in small pots, and another notes plastic glasses when a match is on. One reviewer reports underage drinkers being served, fights continuing into the early hours and security not intervening. Another describes the pizza being made in front of them and arriving very fast.

“🚇 Tufnell Park 🍺 £5.70 Pravha This imposing late-Victorian corner pub is located at a busy five-road intersection in Tufnell Park, north London. The nearest Tube is Tufnell Park. There has been a pub on this site since 1860, originally called The Boston Arms Tavern. The grand Grade II-listed pub you see today was built in 1899 and was renamed The Boston Hotel at that time. Over time, it settled on The Boston Arms. Built in 1884 as a community center, the neighboring Dome and Boston Music Room survived a fire and served as a cinema, swimming pool, boxing hall, and dance venue before evolving into celebrated music spaces for both established and emerging artists. This is a traditional, good-sized pub whose interior is a little less grand than its exterior. The servery runs along the left-hand side, with high tables in the centre and banquette seating around the edges. The front area has a pool table and Chesterfields behind a partition, while the back offers another pool table, darts, table football, and fruit machines. There are plenty of Tv’s dotted about. The beer offering is entirely keg and features a who’s who of well-known tipples, alongside some independent brews. I decided on a Pravha; my pint was excellent, price point was pleasingly south of six quid. Food-wise, it’s Yard Sale Pizza that delivers to the pub. A new menu is coming soon. I arrived just after 12pm on a sunny Saturday lunchtime in April. The pub had just opened, with some local lads already in for an early pint. The atmosphere was relaxed, and I settled into one of the Chesterfields to watch the build-up to the Brentford v Fulham game. The service was pleasant, and the team on duty were friendly and welcoming. This was my second visit to The Boston Arms, and I must say I enjoyed both visits. Architecturally this is a stunning pub, the interior although not as grand was purposeful and well looked after. The price point was favourable and there is plenty on to keep you entertained. I would 100% recommend a visit. 📅 18th April 2026”

“Avoid at all costs. The venue appears to have little regard for basic safety or licensing responsibilities. On multiple occasions, underage drinkers were openly being served alcohol, with security seemingly turning a blind eye to teenagers as young as 15 entering the premises. The atmosphere regularly deteriorates into disorder, with fights breaking out and continuing into the early hours of the morning. Security staff were either unwilling or unable to intervene effectively, creating an environment that feels unsafe for customers and local residents alike. The management seriously needs to address the issues surrounding underage drinking, crowd control and security before someone gets hurt. I would not recommend this venue to anyone.”
