About Angie's Free House

Angie's Free House is an Irish pub at 33-35 Woodfield Pl in London, set in a mock Tudor interior where the walls are covered in sporting memorabilia and photos of musicians. The bar pours pints of Guinness, with cider and red wine alongside, and San Miguel is served as a cold pint. Regulars gather at the bar, which is the focal point of the room. Several large and small screens show multiple sports at once, including football and horse racing, so the pub suits following a match or a race while having a drink.

Customer Review Summary

Guinness is the draw reviewers raise most, with one calling it the best in the city and others praising it as an affordable pint. Close behind is the sport. Several describe multiple screens showing football and horse racing, and a local crowd that simply enjoys the game rather than a gastro setting. Reviewers also mention friendly bar staff and an authentic Irish feel. One group uses it for regular work drinks and is allowed to order in pizza to go with the reasonably priced rounds. The caveat is sharp, though. A few reviewers give the lowest marks, describing a barman with a blank face and wine they called undrinkable. When they raised it, they say, the bar staff turned hostile. Another says a friend was refused service without explanation. One visitor found the room uncomfortable from the moment they walked in. Happier visitors describe dim lighting, walls covered in sporting memorabilia and photos of musicians, and single drinkers nursing a Guinness while the craic carries on around the bar.

“The most uncomfortable pub I’ve ever experienced. The “Locals” treated the girls in our group awfully and looked at us like scum when we walked in, the guys were treated neutrally. The bar staff were barely better. Left crying, the worst pub I’ve been to in London. Do NOT go here if your are a woman who doesn’t know the locals/bar staff”

“We use Angie’s for a cheeky quarterly work drink-up. No airs and graces, everyone can afford a round, and the staff are superb. They also let us order in pizza, which helps soak up the reasonably priced drinks.”
  • Mandy Cotier
“I turned up with a friend their was a bald arrogant man who was rude serving behind the bar watching every move he made us feel very unwelcome later on that evening he refused to serve my friend without reason and when we asked why barred us to i know lots of people who used to frequent that bar that hes either barred or they have barred themselves! My advice if your a woman dont go rumours has it hes a woman hater!”

“Authentic Irish bar. Friendly service. Guinness £5 a pint. Sport on TV. Walls festooned with photos of late 20th century musicians,”
  • Áine
“I'm not one to leave reviews but I felt compelled in this case. What an absolute kip! First impressions as we walked in the door were not great but we gave it the benefit of the doubt. We ordered drinks from the miserable barman who was less than friendly and greeted us with a blank face. Their wine was undrinkable and when politely brought to his attention, he (along with the incredibly rude short, bald barman) became hostile and abusive. Unless you have the lowest of standards, save yourself and avoid this place at all costs! An absolute dive!”
