  “We visited for a late afternoon lunch and took advantage of the set menu for two courses. However, the lovely waitress served us a free dessert each too. The starter and main was absolutely delicious, the portions are very big so we brought the rest home for supper. A lovely, friendly little place with outdoor seating. Great service from the waitress too.”

  “We used to come here regularly when it was Grilla, and it was our go-to for grilled food. We have given Souvla a couple of tries since the change, but unfortunately the quality has really declined while the prices have gone up significantly. We ordered 2 mixed souvlaki (£27.50), 1 kids’ meatballs meal (£7.50), both with rice, and 1 mixed croquettes (£12.50). Honestly, the food was disappointing. The rice was just plain boiled rice with a little sweetcorn and peas. The meat was nice, but I am sure you used to get more for a lower price. The meatballs meal for my little one was very poor as well — it looked more like slop than a proper kids’ meal. The croquettes were also disappointing: only 6 small pieces for £12.50, and they were very greasy with an unpleasant burnt aftertaste. It is sad to see the quality drop so much. I do not think we will be coming back. There are much better grill and Mediterranean options in the city, such as Laros or Elif. One staff member I dealt with was nice, and I do love the interior — it is very rustic — but we did not eat in; I collected the food myself. Very unfortunate.”

  “Lovely time out for dinner here! Tasty hearty food for fair prices and portions. Staff are also friendly :) Would recommend the cheese croquettes!”

  “Appeared to be excellent value with 2 courses for £15. Sadly the quality of the food was very poor. Lemon mushrooms sounded simple enough. But as another reviewer has said, they are deep fried in tasteless batter. They dont only look inedible but they taste awful too. Nothing to do with greek good at all. Could be vastly improved by simply frying off the mushrooms with lemon, garlic and parsley. Doesn't make any sense to deep fry them. Next was the Gyros which is one of my faves usually. Poor quality kebab meat, ready-made bread and minimal salad. The one positive were the homemade chips. The venue was also in need of a deep clean. So much potential but need to listen to the feedback.”

  “It was my first time trying Souvla and I cannot complain. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We will be back!”

  “Came here with my mum a while ago and was disappointed. Tzatsiki & flat breads did not taste fresh, pita tasted shop bought. Service was slow. It's a shame as the restaurant looks nice in the glass area, but it seems they're more focussed on churning out average takeaways than providing a high quality restaurant experience”

  “Appalling service here. Do not recommend.very inconsiderate staff.They made us move tables halfway through eating our meal.we had booked a table for two a few days prior too With my 86 year old mother with a walking aid having to go up a ramp to our other table……as a party of 5 had come in and needed the table we were seated at…??!!!! Appalling service here, freezing cold meats and still bloody in the middle. Will never go back.”

  “First time I've been to Souvla on Allerton Road L18. Lovely welcome and impressed that it was lovely and warm on a freezing cold evening. Tables all set out with candles and lights around the place made for a lovely ambience. Staff very attentive. Food was presented with plenty on the plate. Absolutely delicious. Ordered wine with it which was also of good quality. All my party were impressed and we would all go again. Highly recommend Souvla L18”

  “Signed up for a promo offer, but management forced us to buy drinks, even tho the offer stipulated you didn't have to. Why sign up as a business if you are begrudge people using the offer. Food was genuinely below average. Wouldn't even come here for special offer's.”

  “Popped into Souvla for an early dinner. This is my third visit. Each time I visit, it's an out-of-this-world experience! The environment is always calming, relaxing, as well as being beautifully clean. All of the facilities are beautifully presented and pleasing to the eye - we even love the loos! I have all of this high praise, before we even get to the food and the service.... Well, this is the highest point!!!!! Orsy was our server this afternoon. She was very welcoming and very attentive, with a lovely smile & warm presence. A gentleman waiter treated my neice and I to a complimentary chocolate and cream dessert which was delicious , (free), and exquisitely presented. So, a big thank you to this member of the team too, who was equally as attentive, welcoming and as lovely as Orsy. Well Done and thanks for making our experience extra special!!!! The FOOD is outstanding, great choice, varied menu , and offers vegetarian and vegan alternatives while still maintaining its Greek authenticity. Highly recommend Souvla to anyone who has a chance to visit. We will be back soon. Thank you.”
