Customer Review Summary

Cheap breakfast draws the most praise, with reviewers describing reasonable portions and friendly service, and several call the pub cheap and cheerful. Match days come close behind. Groups stop in before games at Goodison Park and Anfield, and the food arrives pipping hot and tasty. Others single out a very good ale with a jacket potato lunch, though one found the garden peas skimpy, and a fish and prawn curry from curry club that came quickly and hot. The complaints are varied. One reviewer reports a staff member's language was bad enough to spoil the visit, and another says a vegetarian breakfast was repeatedly called vegan and came back without toast, likening the room to a giant school dining hall. Others mention tables that are hard to find, mid to high noise, vaping at seats, toilets that could be cleaner, and a request that staff smile more. Still, one group of eleven arriving before a match was seated straight away by a staff member clearing tables, and the barmaids were quick with drinks.

“Well what can I say about this place, I'm by no means a prude, and own a bar but perhaps a word is required with staff. On the day of our visits 25th May 2026 there was a member of staff (dressed in a black vest top & her hair in a bun) let's just say her language could have made a docker blush. We had wondered why a spoons in close the football stadiums to be busy at lunch time on Bank Holiday Monday, perhaps this explains why it was quiet. The other members of staff were polar opposite and the food was delicious, it's amazing how one person can alter the entire visit”

“Chanced upon this place while trying to look for something else. Probably the cheapest breakfast out there with reasonable portion and great service. The waitress was friendly and checked in on us mid-meal. We chanced upon another outlet at the city centre and just had to have dinner there too, though the prices are cheaper here. Would definitely return if our schedule permits”

“Cant even get a breakfast right - waitress kept telling me it was a vegan breakfast when it was vegetarian. Brought it back right eventually but without toast. Looks like a giant school dining hall - probably worst Spoonsies been to”

“Our local Wetherspoon's, girl who served us with blonde hair always happy. Went in for curry club to try the new fish and prawn curry, food came quick was nice and hot but one of the poppadoms looks like it had been dropped or miss handled as was only half of one. Not worth complaining about though as it's a one off. It's very busy in here and tables are sometimes hard to find. The noise level is mid to high and you will get people vaping at their seats.”
