About The Black Bull
On Warbreck Moor, The Black Bull is a gastropub and pub that welcomes walk-ins rather than taking reservations. Weekend karaoke is a regular fixture, with customers getting up to sing and dance, and live music also features on a regular basis. A fruit machine sits on site for those who want a game. The step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without difficulty. The bar staff work the counter throughout service, and the pub opens daily, giving regulars a consistent spot to drop into whether for a weeknight pint or the weekend singing.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the karaoke, with diners describing plenty of people having a go, dancing and encouraging others to join in, and one calling the local karaoke regular a highlight of the weekend entertainment. Close behind is the friendly service and the pints, with several praising the bar staff, the good ales and drinks prices described as decent and cheap enough. Live music is called a mainstay, and one reviewer credits the new licensee with improving the more off-putting elements of what they call the heart of the community. Others describe a long-standing, old-fashioned local with no airs and graces, where a stranger is quickly welcomed by the regulars. The main caveat is the condition of the place. One reviewer says it could do with a lick of paint, another calls it a once great pub gone very tatty, and a third jokes about a slightly adhesive carpet. One reviewer also mentions a fruit machine that adds "reel" nostalgia but is sub par. Reviewers returning after years away describe the nostalgic feel of old school tunes and happy memories.

“The Black Bull on Walton Vale is a pure local treasure mostly because it looks less like a traditional pub and more like a high stakes social experiment. Calling it a bit of a rough diamond is generous, it’s more like a brick of unrefined granite. The bar staff (who all seem to answer to the name Debs) are absolute heroes, navigating the chaos with the efficiency of A&E nurses and pouring a pint so good it almost makes you forget the carpet is slightly adhesive. Then you’ve got the regular clientele, on any given afternoon, stepping through the front doors feels less like popping in for a quick drink and more like auditioning for a live action remake of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. You’ll find a bloke across from the bar having a deeply intellectual, full volume argument with the fruit machine, alongside an old guy who looks like he's been sitting in the exact same seat since 1972. Yet, for all the madness, it’s genuinely one of the friendliest spots on the Vale. You can walk in as an absolute stranger, and within five minutes, a bloke named 'Mad Dave' who hasn't worn shoes since Tuesday will offer you half a bag of dry roasted nuts and treat you like a long lost brother. Add in the weekend entertainment where the local karaoke legend (Pauline) hits notes only dogs can hear and you’ve got an absolute masterpiece of Liverpool pub culture. Utterly unhinged, completely brilliant, and you wouldn't change a single thing about it.”

“If you fused Mordor with Mos Eisley Cantina then it wouldn’t come remotely close. I spent over £100 because I couldn’t physically leave the place. Dopamine sanctuary with a serotonin chaser. * Sub Par fruity, albeit adds “reel” nostalgia, if you’d pardon the pun!”
