About Joey Orrs

Function bookings sit at the heart of Joey Orrs, a pub and restaurant on Rice Ln in Liverpool that takes on private events for gatherings of over 100 guests, covering work lunches, birthdays, parties and wakes, with a party food buffet laid on and room and table decorations arranged for the group. The kitchen works through a menu of 12 dishes, with Black Pudding Bonbons, an Open Steak and Ale Pie and a Roast Chicken Dinner among them. Tables are taken in advance by phone, so booking ahead is advised, whether for an event or an ordinary meal. The pub occupies an older building and opens daily. Outdoor seating gives the option of eating and drinking outside, and dogs are welcome alongside their owners.

Customer Review Summary

Group functions carry most of the praise here, with buffets at a work lunch, a December birthday, a party and a wake for over a hundred guests all singled out for both quality and quantity, one reviewer noting guests were still remarking on the food days later. Close behind is the regular kitchen, where diners name a mid week steak and ale pie and a chicken curry with half rice and half chips, plus an Edge Bomb starter and a salmon main described as far better than expected. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer suggests phoning ahead to book. The clearest complaint is a booking dispute, where a party arriving for a five o'clock reservation was told abruptly that the table was for half past and no space was ready, and they walked out. Others mention awkward parking and a downstairs flood that meant dessert never arrived. One recurring image: a coeliac guest handed a separate gluten free plate with seconds cooked as needed.

Lovely people, lovely food! I was here for a work event which promised free lunch, so I was expecting a stale sandwich or two, but the spread we were presented was incredible in both quality and quantity. I was offered a separate plate of vegetarian food, and advised which options on the buffet were veggie if I wanted more, while my coeliac colleague was given a plate of gluten free food and the offer of second helpings cooked as needed. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming and made a long day much more enjoyable :)

Honestly just had the most gorgeous mid-week tea. Steak and ale pie and chicken curry, 1/2 rice and 1/2 chips was a 10/10. Didn’t want it to end. Perfect night Thank you xxx

The staff are absolutely amazing and can't do enough for you. The food was amazing. The only reason I dropped a star on food and atmosphere was because they had a flood downstairs and couldn't serve our dessert. Totally out of their control and therefore not their fault.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
