Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the bar staff, describing the women behind the bar as friendly, fantastic hosts, with one calling a bartender kind and another saying the staff were respectful. Close behind is the relaxing, proper boozer atmosphere, and a few mention the friendly drinking public and the pints, including cold Carling served quick. One reviewer who watched local football games on tv found it a peaceful alternative to the busier pubs near the station. Several note its closeness to the Royal Liverpool hospital, with one reviewer saying nearly everyone inside had a loved one there and another stopping in to celebrate good news after an appointment. One reviewer mentions a karaoke night where they sang to an ovation. The recurring caveats are small. One reviewer says the pub no longer does food, and another grumbled that a small bottle of Coke Zero was too dear to bring them back, though others call the drinks priced very well. The detail that stands out is a group allowed to eat a pizza from nearby at their table with their pints.

“Stopped by The Old Fort in Liverpool and ended up having a really nice, laid-back experience. We ordered two pints of Carling while waiting on a pizza from nearby, and the drinks were spot on; cold and served quick. We asked the staff if it’d be okay to bring the pizza in and eat it there, and they were more than happy to let us; super friendly and accommodating about it which we really appreciated. Chill atmosphere, good service, and just an easy place to relax for a pint!”

“I was staying close to LS Station and the pubs around there were crazy busy on the weekend afternoon. The Old Fort was a great alternative to peacefully watch a couple of local football games on tv.”

“This has to be my favourite Liverpool pub. The two bar women were fantastic hosts and looked after us yesterday. Drinks are priced very well. Definitely coming back to this proper boozer.”
