Quick info
About KungFu Ramen
KungFu Ramen is a Chinese restaurant at 50 Market Pl in Leicester, where the chef pulls handmade noodles to order and can be watched making them on the spot. Ramen comes as soup bowls, including beef brisket ramen and beef shin ramen, while the dry noodle bowls include a beef with chilli option. The menu runs to 85 dishes, with cold plates such as Sliced Beef In Chili Sauce 夫妻肺片 alongside the noodles. A self-serve station holds chilli oil, spring onions, coriander, garlic and soy sauce, so each bowl is seasoned to taste. All food is halal, and no pork is on the menu. Seating is limited, mostly big tables that suit groups. The restaurant is open every day except Wednesdays. Payment is cash only, and a cash machine sits right outside.

Customer Review Summary
Beef brisket ramen is the dish most reviewers return for, with diners praising the broth as full of flavour and the meat as well cooked. Close behind are the beef shin ramen, the dry noodle bowls and the shredded potatoes, and one reviewer notes the noodles are handmade and made on the spot. A self-serve station of chilli oil, spring onions, coriander and soy lets diners season their own bowl, though one reviewer who overdid the chilli oil had the broth exchanged by a staff member. Reviewers also single out the halal menu, generous portions and food that arrives quickly, with the kids' noodles a hit for one family. The recurring complaints are about the beef: two reviewers say the bowls could have had more meat, one counting only half a dozen small cubes. Seating is limited and mostly large tables, and one regular describes the counter service as rude and unwelcoming despite the food. Another reviewer found the chicken dumplings a bit dry, though they still tasted good.

“Food is always amazing here and I’ve visited many times over the years. The noodles and broth are consistently fresh and full of flavour, and I’ve never had any issues with the food itself. However, the customer service from the lady on the counter really lets the place down. The way she speaks and takes orders often comes across as rude and unwelcoming, which affects the overall experience. It’s a shame because the food is genuinely one of the best around.”

“I love this place!!! A little independent gem in the City. Food is always on point, the service is so friendly and well-coming. Food is fresh, hot and spicy. We had the ramen and dry noodles, fried shrimp dumplings and salt and pepper fish. Portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable. The little station with the chilli oil, herbs and sauces is fun and means you can tailor to your taste.”

“This is a very authentic traditional ramen restaurant. The ramen chef is highly skilled. Every time my family goes to Leicester, we always go here. I want to say that although we need to drive for over an hour, it's totally worth it because the ramen I want to eat is only available here. The noodles are completely handmade and you can watch the chef make them on the spot. It's really amazing.”

“Great little authentic ramen noodle restaurant. Limited seating but easily got a table on a Saturday afternoon, food was fantastic and served in under 10 minutes and a huge serving! All the food is halal and no pork on the menu. Will definitely go back when next in Leicester and can fully recommend 👌🏻”
