About CY CAFE
On Melton Rd in Leicester, CY CAFE is a vegetarian restaurant that serves Indian street food with Mumbai-style items, and the whole kitchen is pure vegetarian. Dabeli, pav bhaji and the Mumbai sandwich lead the street food side, and the chaat dishes sit alongside them. Breakfast and lunch are both served, and the menu extends to parathas, including stuffed versions and one filled with paneer bhurji, as well as bhakri served with ghee and chutney. Sandwiches come toasted or loaded with chutney. Masala chai is on the drinks list.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the masala chai, described as strong and authentic, with one saying it tasted just like India. Close behind are the parathas, including a stuffed paratha called crispy outside and soft inside, and the paneer bhurji with paratha that one visitor ordered two days running. Diners also name the bhakri, pav bhaji, samosa chaat, dabeli, pani puri and a toasted sandwich, and several mention generous portions that suit sharing. Staff and owners come up repeatedly as welcoming, with reviewers saying they felt like family and that a child's noodles were made mild. Several call the place clean. The recurring caveats are small: one reviewer finds the food a bit costly though the quality and quantity justify it, and another dislikes the flimsy plastic glasses. One reviewer also notes an off-menu mango pulp served with kesar puri and bateta shak.

“We popped in for lunch and the place is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a great choice of authentic vegetarian food. We went for the potato sabji with masala puri, thepla, pau bhaji and one of the roti wraps. I have to say the food was very tasty. I would definitely recommend a visit.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of our absolute favourite places in Leicester! CY Cafe is so much more than somewhere to go for a meal – every time we visit, we are made to feel genuinely welcome and almost like part of the family. The food is consistently delicious. No matter how many times we have been, the quality never disappoints. Everything is fresh, full of flavour and prepared with obvious care and pride. But what really makes CY Cafe special for us are the wonderful people. Chetali, Kavel and Babubhai are absolutely fantastic. Their warmth, kindness and hospitality are second to none, and nothing ever seems too much trouble. A special mention has to go to the way they treat our grandson. They absolutely spoil him and look after him so beautifully whenever we visit! Seeing how much care and affection they show him means more to us than they probably realise. ❤️ It is that combination of fantastic food, genuine hospitality and a lovely family atmosphere that keeps us coming back. Thank you Chetali, Kavel, Babubhai and everyone at CY Cafe for always making our visits so enjoyable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for great food served by genuinely lovely people. A very well-deserved five stars from us! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ketan & Alpa”

“The best food in Leicester for sure! We are so glad we went here. Everything from the food to the service was exceptional. We had a dabeli, samosa chaat, pav bhaji and Mumbai sandwich. It was all so tasty and the portion sizes were brilliant, enough for everyone to share. The chai tasted just like India! 😊 The owners are the most lovely people and were so welcoming - we felt like we were family! Thank you so much. I would recommend everyone to visit CY Cafe, we can’t wait to come again on our next visit from London!”

“Been coming here with big group of friends. Family for lunch & breakfast. In this visit ordered Ghee Bhakri & Chutney, Veg Cheese Burger, Kesar Puri with bateta shak (semi dry potatoes) & Mango pulp(off the menu dish), Chocolate Milkshake - loved by our son & Masala Chai. All very good portions and authentic taste. Don't understand flimsy plastic glass concept, personally don't like it, perhaps an area for improvement. Always very welcoming, tentative, friendly staff and Clean place. Highly recommended.”
