About Gynsills Farm - Dining & Carvery
Gynsills Farm - Dining & Carvery is a pub on Leicester Rd in Leicester that serves its carvery all the time, with a carver on the meat. The carvery comes with traditional trimmings, vegetables and beef dripping roast potatoes. Beyond it, the menu includes a mixed grill and a tex mex chilli, while the gammon arrives in a bun or with yorkie pudding, with pigs in blankets as a side. Breakfast is part of the service, and a selection of cakes and desserts rounds out the food. An ice cream display on the counter carries flavours such as bubblegum.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is what most reviewers return for, with diners praising the perfectly cooked meats, fresh vegetables, traditional trimmings and new beef dripping roast potatoes, all served hot. One regular says they now visit weekly after the carvery recovered, and another has never had a bad meal from it. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and a family holding a wake describes feeling unrushed. The outside seating and desserts also get mentions, including the ice cream. The lower reviews carry the complaints. One reviewer reports flies in the dining room, a mop and bucket left near the ice cream display, and a long gap before burgers arrived, while another describes a mixed grill steak that tasted and smelt off, a missing poppadom and naan option, and slow table service for ice cream that ended with a flavour being out. A third notes the app order did not clarify a gammon in a bun versus a yorkie, though the son loved it. One reviewer's closing observation was carvery staff boxing up extra food for customers.

“Nice Pub, very good looking outside area for the summer. Bit too much birdshit for the outside benches but to be expected. Sat down ordered a mixed grill and chicken tikka on the app bosh no problems. About 2 minutes after order was told no poppadoms no naan. Whats the point in the curry then but fair enough swapped to the tex mex chilli no danger so far. Food comes about 15-20 minutes after this happy days everything's going well. I sliced the steak and took a bite. Tough I can forgive its a mixed grill for £15 over cooked i can forgive its more than likely a frozen steak. but took the bite and spat out because tasted and smelt off. Rest of the mixed grill was sound. Chilli was sound. Waiting for an opportunity when they collected the plates to let them know this however they didnt come for 30 minutes after we finished eating. Thought no problem, whatever but then we ordered 3 scoops of ice cream. Considering this is all on display and presumably not frozen/made to order, tell me why it took 35 minutes from order to come to table. Sorry, took 30 minutes for them to come over and ask which flavour we wanted instead since they were out of bubblegum then came with it. Tbf ice cream we got was bosh so for that reason all in all 3* review.”

“Fantastic experience from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the carvery, with a great choice of perfectly cooked meats, fresh vegetables, and all the traditional trimmings. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavour. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive, making us feel looked after throughout our visit. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and perfect for a family meal or a catch-up with friends. Excellent value for money, generous portions, and a great selection of desserts to finish off the meal. We couldn’t fault anything and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!”

“Great pub, nice and friendly staff (which to me is the most important) and great food and drinks. A big spacious area of seating or to drink/eat outside. So i cant say anything bad about here. Was also important i enjoyed the experience as was with my 13 year old son who i hadn't seen in a week and he loved it and the food also. My only negative (which is not against the pub) is ordering through the app i'm sure i ordered the gammon wrapped in roast yorkie pudding but it came in the bun but when i checked the email receipt it just said gammon so it did not clarify which i ordered and that was for my son but that said he absolutely loved it anyway. Another thing the card board menu states with that to choose from roast potatoes/chips or salad but on the app there is no option - just comes with roasties. Unless that was because i did order in the bun and the yorkie option allows you to choose - not sure. I should have just ordered at the bar but was spending time catching up with my son after his holiday. Also missed the side of Pig's in blankets but that was soon sorted. If you love cakes also this is the place to be!”
