About The Forge Inn
The Forge Inn is a pub at 29 Main St in Leicester, with low wood beams and a dining area for meals. The bar pours local cask beers, and the kitchen cooks British food, with a roast lunch on the menu and an early bird menu as well. Vegan options include a double cheese burger and bangers and mash. Before Christmas, the pub holds a Santa breakfast event, which gives families a seasonal reason to visit.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the dish reviewers raise most, and opinions split. One calls it by far the best they have had, another praises the tasty meat, excellent roast potatoes and well cooked vegetables, while a third found the pre-sliced beef tougher than boot leather, the roast potatoes soft rather than crispy and the Yorkshire burnt, though the veg and gravy were good. Close behind are the creamy chorizo chicken rigatoni, with melting chicken and generous chorizo, and the chilli on the early bird menu, served with purple nacho crisps. Others mention the mixed grill, a buttermilk chicken burger, olives, and the Phoenix cask pint, described as fruity and refreshing. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and the outdoor seating draws praise on sunny days. One vegetarian diner was disappointed that only two vegan dishes are offered and neither appears on the early bird menu. A family also enjoyed pancakes and eggs Benedict at a Christmas breakfast event, and one couple had a birthday pudding brought out on a board.

“Visited here for a weekend lunch. The menu had a great selection and the food itself was lovely! Decour is very nice and the pub is clean throughout. Friendly staff with great service. Would definitely return!”

“For the price.... the food was terrible. I had the 'roast beef' pre cooked pre sliced and tougher than boot leather. The 'crispy' rost potatoes collapsed when you tried to put you fork in them and weren't crispy at all. They could have been prepared yesterday and microwaved they were that bad. The veg was excellent and the gravy was tasty. The Yorkshire was burnt. However, the presentation was good. It just hid a terrible meal. If you want a decent Sunday lunch. .. half the price and better quality. Visit a Toby carvery.”

“Lovely pub with a great outdoor seating area, perfect on a sunny day. Service was good, only had drinks so can't comment on the food but the pizzas looked nice. Good size car park, would definitely go again if I was in the area.”

“Nice pub, with lovely decor and a welcoming atmosphere. The food is pretty good quality and tasty, but can’t help but notice hardly any healthy options on the menu. Only two vegan options, double cheese burger or bangers and mash, so rather disappointing not to see nutritionally balanced and health dishes. Early bird menu available, but neither of the two vegan options are on the menu, which feels like an oversight and something to address. I really enjoyed the double plants based cheese burger, but not something that I particularly choose to eat, but sadly lack of options didn’t help. Nice outdoor area too with heaters, perfect some spring evenings when the temperatures drop.”
