About Urquhart’s Restaurant
Urquhart's Restaurant is a family-run Scottish restaurant at 2 Young St in Inverness. The menu serves haggis, neeps and tatties with a whisky sauce, and a vegan haggis gives plant-based diners their own take on the dish. Steak pie also appears on the menu, and a wine list runs alongside the food. The dining room is small, set with high-back leather chairs and granite placemats on the tables. The restaurant opens Wednesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Haggis with whisky sauce is what reviewers raise most, with diners calling it the best they have had and one describing the sauce as yummy alongside neeps and tatties. Close behind are the crab cakes, fish and chips, and steak pie, with several noting generous portions and reasonable prices. Venison sausages, chicken on white pudding, a cheeseboard, and a highland mess also draw praise from one lunch and dinner visitor each. Service is described as friendly, welcoming, and efficient across most reviews, and one reviewer was able to get a walk-in table while other places were booked. The main criticism concerns the pies and mains. One diner found the steak pie like beef stew under a flaky biscuit, with over-salted beef, and the fish pie bland and seemingly reheated. Another found the pie light on meat and the burger overdone and dry, though the chunky chips were nice. One reviewer noted a quiet Sunday evening lacked atmosphere. Several suggest booking ahead because the place is small, and one reviewer still called the service lovely despite the dry burger.

“Amazing service. Very friendly. Quite basic menu. Home style cooking. Pie was more of a Teviot than a pie and could have done with a bit more meat in it but was ok. Burger was over done and dry. Chips were nice and chunky. Can’t fault the service though. Lovely people.”

“Went for dinner Today as I’m passing through the City all other places were fully booked but luckily I was able to get a walk in table for one here. Service was amazing. I got the crab cakes and fish and chips which were super fresh and decent portions. Was surprised when my bill came to 31£, tipped 20 in turn. Would recommend this place for sure.”

“My wife and I had a really lovely meal in Urquhart’s on 26 June - to celebrate our anniversary. My wife had chicken breast with haggis etc and I had haggis, neeps and tatties - with a yummy whisky sauce. Just about the best I have ever tasted - and I’m in my 70s! Food, service and meal were excellent!”

“Took my father there for a traditional Haggis dinner and we both agreed it's the best Haggis either of us has ever had. The whiskey sauce was heavenly, we couldn't ask for anything more. Service was top notch. It's a small place so make sure you book in advance if you want a table. Several other things on the menu i wish we were here longer to try. If you're in Inverness i cant think of any other place i would recommend more. Truely exceptional!”
