Customer Review Summary

Seabass is the dish reviewers name most. One calls it and its couscous really good, another praises crispy skin and tender fish, and a third found it good but overcooked. Close behind are the upstairs tables with views over the River Ness, and service that several describe as friendly, attentive and quick. Other plates singled out include the fig and blue cheese salad, the prosciutto wrapped stuffed chicken breast, haggis, and breaded French brie. Seasoning is the recurring complaint. Reviewers describe the halloumi and steak as chewy, the mash and the bread as bland, and one couple found every dish short on salt and spice, despite good presentation and portions. Two say specials were never mentioned at lunch, one reports a rude waitress, and another says a waiter kept looking at his wife in a way that left her uneasy. One reviewer recommends reserving, and another found the table small and cramped. One diner who emailed ahead for a birthday dessert surprise got it, and staff wished the guest a happy birthday.

“Beautiful place-a nice, city-center feel. Excellent hostess. Not so excellent waitress-quite rude actually. And never explained that there were specials for lunch. Food was good, except for the bread (from a plastic tote under a counter) which was bland. Would not be my first pick.”

“Myself and my wife had a date day there. Got seated pretty quickly. Was shown up stairs. I asked for a pint of soft drink and was given a glass smaller than what I had asked for. I had the fried halloumi..I felt the halloumi was very chewy (not like other places i have had it) and the linguine, while my wife had the salmon and the roasted chicken and mash. My meal was good overall while my wife main was ok ..the mash was so bland ..I had a taste and there was no taste to it. I was surprised with all the comments on social media praising the quality of the food. Also my wife felt uneasy as the waiter who served us kept looking at her weirdly which kind of put her off from enjoying her meal and that put me off a wee bit and we just wanted to leave. I could say who it was but I won't”

“had lunch here on Father’s Day in 2026. Came here on the recommendation of a friend. Absolutely delightful! Note, this was my first adventure into haggis, which was really tasty! Server was super sweet and helpful…excellent meal and experience. Highly recommend!!”

“Really excellent place! If you arrive (or make a reservation) between 5pm-630 then you have access to a lower cost dinner menu, with slightly different options to enjoy two courses for £21. Everything is delicious and the staff are friendly and attentive”

“I definitely recommend making a reservation, it was very easy to arrange a table that way. My girlfriend and I had a two course lunch. The presentation was beautiful, but we found that all the dishes tasted quite bland with not enough spices and salt. Might just be our personal preference. The portion size was very good and we definitely didn't leave hungry. Service was really good, quick and professional. Our table was a bit small and cramped. The ambience was alright, it was quite busy and loud, but we didn't feel rushed.”
