Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the salmon, praised as cooked perfectly with a char on the bottom, and one describes a flavorful curry sauce with it. Close behind is the venison burger and venison dish, called tender, with one reviewer relaying that the venison is sourced locally. The linguine with chicken, rib eye steak, duck, scallops special and haggis appetizer each earn mentions, and the sticky toffee pudding is the dessert named most. Gin cocktails, including the Isle of Harris, and an old fashioned made with Isla whiskey also draw praise. Staff are described as friendly, and several call the portions generous and the prices reasonable, though one finds it expensive. The caveat is service lapses. One diner watched four waitresses laugh at their phones, and plates took so long to clear that dessert was skipped. Another had to ask about an item missing from their order. Several suggest reserving ahead. One reviewer recounts the owner saying two main dishes would be enough for two people.

“Lovely little restaurant in the heart of Inverness. The food was tasty, the service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. There was also a good variety of options for kids, which was a big plus for us. It’s a cosy and popular place, so I’d recommend making a reservation in advance. Overall, a great choice for a family meal — definitely worth a visit! 😊”

“We found this bistro by chance on our first visit to Inverness. After being disappointed by some of the other places we had tried, we decided to give it a try, and we’re so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish was beautifully prepared. The wine recommended by our waitress was excellent and paired perfectly with our meal. There were no tables available inside, so we sat outside at a lovely table overlooking the pedestrian street, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly and happy to recommend places for us to visit around the area. Paul was especially welcoming and made us feel right at home. Sadly, we’re leaving Inverness, so we won’t have the chance to visit again this time. But on our next trip, this bistro will definitely be one of our first stops. A wonderful bistro with delicious, high-quality food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars!”

“We were very lucky to find this little gem. Sat in a quiet window seat nook window. Had wonderful gin cocktail creations called the Isle of Harris and The Great Glen Pink! Yummy!!! For dinner we had the salmon and venison. Beautiful presentation and the flavors were spot on. Venison was tender and cooked perfectly. The salmon had a flavorful curry sauce that complimented it he salmon very well. Dessert was a creamy Biscoff chocolate cheesecake. I highly recommend this delightful bistro for its excellent food, the atmosphere, and the friendly and attentive staff. Make a reservation to assure you have the pleasure of enjoying this dining experience.”

“It is an excellent shop providing very tasty food and good service. We, two people, ordered three main dishes. The owner (I think) said that actually two main dishes may be enough. What a honest person! We order soup, steak, salmon, and the linguine. They are all very delicious especially the rib eye steak! Fig & Thistle is the second and the last shop I attended in Inverness, but she is the best shop I try here!”
