About Rocpool
Rocpool is a Modern Scottish restaurant at 1 Ness Walk in Inverness, set in a brightly coloured contemporary room. The kitchen works with locally sourced ingredients. The menu runs from a scallop and chorizo starter to venison served with haggis and sauce, with roast monkfish among the seafood mains. Vegetarian options sit on the main menu, and a separate vegan menu serves plant-based diners. At the bar, the Passionate Laddie cocktail pairs peated whiskey with egg white. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
Seafood leads the praise at Rocpool, with scallops singled out repeatedly, one reviewer calling them a standout starter and another finding them excellent with chorizo, perfectly seared. Close behind are the venison with haggis, creamy parsnips and a rich sauce, plus the spiced crab and sweet corn soup, a crab salad and the roast monkfish. Cocktails draw steady mentions, including a peated whiskey and egg white drink, and one vegetarian diner praised the cheddar and feta puffs served over mango and pear. Portions are described as large. Service is mostly called friendly, warm and professional, though one diner found it average and not attentive, and the same reviewer thought the halibut thin and slightly overcooked. Another felt desserts, including the crème brûlée, were good but standard, and a couple noted that an anniversary mentioned in advance went unacknowledged. Several say the restaurant is packed and urge booking ahead, with one noticing a full sign on the door on a Wednesday. One group was told their table could not be enlarged until a cancellation let the team email back to confirm.

“Went here for dinner as a treat and it was sheer perfection. The scallops were 10/10, definitely one of the best starters I've had. The venison was so tender perfectly paired with a delicious sauce, haggis, potatoes and creamy parsnips. Great portion sizes as well. We were lucky to get a table roughly a week out from visiting but well worth booking ahead. Service was professional, accomodating and friendly. The team at Rocpool clearly know what they are doing from the service to the kitchen and the whole experience was brilliant. We will be back☺️ (Also to try the cocktails!)”

“We had a reservation at Rocpool on the evening of our wedding anniversary and our first night in Inverness in the middle of our 12 night Scotland adventure. The place was packed when we arrived for our early evening slot so doubling down on anyone's recommendation to make dinner reservations if you want to go to nice places in the North of Scotland. We were seated immediately. Everything about the experience was beautiful and delicious. I started with a Passionate Laddie Cocktail made with a peated whiskey and egg white. The texture reminded me of the Ramos Gin Fizz drink I had in New Orleans. It was well mixed but I didn’t taste smoke from the whiskey, The tomatoes in the "Green Salad with Cherry Tomato and Parmesan" we're amazing and, truly, the star of the salad which had a generous amount of shaved parmesan on top satisfying my cheese-mongering sensibility. I had the Cornage Cheddar and Feta Cheese puffs for my main. They were fried but delicate, served over mango with cooked pear. It was quite indulgent – like dessert for dinner My wife enjoyed the prawns dish she got, and the salmon as well served with perfectly cooked asparagus and really good mashed potatoes. Everything was beautifully plated and tasted great. Inverness is not huge and there are a finite number of finer dining restaurants. We ultimately chose this one as I'm a vegetarian and they had the most abundant options to choose from (including a separate vegan menu which I didn't end up ordering from as the options on the main menu served my desires for the evening. The tiniest disappointment – It was our wedding anniversary and I had put that on the reservation (as well as emailed in advance about it) and we didn't get a "happy anniversary" or any kind of acknowledgment of it. I mean we were perfectly happy to just be with each other, but it would have been nice. :) Otherwise this is undoubtedly one of, if not the nicest restaurant in Inverness.”

“While in inverness, this restaurant must be one of the places to make reservation. Im sure there are others but what a fabulous place. I had tge best tomato soup. Yes, tomato soup. Friendly staff and delicious food. Well presented. Absolutely enjoyed it. Definitely make reservations.”

“Tried the spiced crab & sweet corn soup, scotch fillet, roast monkfish, and crème brûlée – every dish was spot on. Easily one of the best meals in Inverness. Highly recommend the hot mains; desserts are good but standard, so I’d try something else next time.”

“Fantastic place! Top notch place, I'm sure on its way to getting a Michelin star soon (except they'll have to decrease portions 😄) very interesting menu and everything we tried was great. Crab salad is a must have. Ask for Stephen for superb service. If you have to pick between this and Rover House, Rocpool every time (ok may be every 5th time go to House for happy hour oysters)”
