Customer Review Summary
Cod and chips is the dish reviewers raise most, and opinions on it split. One group order praised two generous cod strips and a big portion of chips, and another diner called the cod and chips lovely. A longtime customer, though, describes soggy cod with an unpleasant smell and chips that looked refried. Close behind, one reviewer keeps coming back for the battered sausage and chips, and a first-time fish and chips eater found the Southern Fried Chicken Strips tasty and noted the halal kitchen. Chips are the recurring complaint, described as undercooked, hard, dry or unsalted. Others report a cold pie with a funny smell, unseasoned chicken wings, fish stuck to the paper, and a small quarter pounder with no salad or sauce. One diner waited far longer than promised for chips and saveloy, then learned the order had never been written down. Another says the owner argued and refused to replace undercooked chips. One recent visitor finds the new manager relaxed and the staff happier.

“I have been a loyal customer here for over 15 years, but unfortunately, the food quality has seriously declined recently.I spent over £20 on a large cod and chips with salt and vinegar. I also requested a chilli sauce dip, which cost £1.80 for the tub. I had no issue paying that price as it is a good size and I usually love their sauce. However, the meal itself was very disappointing. The chips appeared to be refried and were very hard to eat. The cod was quite soggy and had an unpleasant smell. While I am happy to pay a bit extra for quality, the standards have dropped so much that I will not be returning, nor can I recommend it to others.”

“Ordered via uber eats, everything was great but the meal for two didn’t include salt and vinegar on the chips, thought that would have been a given since it wasn’t an option to add it. Chips were dry and unsalted but fish was good.”

“We went here after a long time and the food was lovely, ordered 2 cod and chips. New manager seems relaxed compared to the old one nari, who was not very nice to staff. Staff is new and seem happier”

“Been in for a portion of chips and saveloy. Was told 5mins. People came in after me and left before me with larger orders. Enquired about how much longer to be told 5mins 3 times. Then after 20mins later they inform me they hadn’t even written down the order id paid for 20mins ago. Chips not cooked properly”

“Not good at all the chips were okay, my pie was cold and gone off had a funny smell, chicken wings absolutely no seasoning no salt black pepper! Fish was soggy and was stuck to the paper! No salad or sauce in quarter pounder and was not a quarter pounder very small burger! Definitely would not recommend!”
