About S S S Chicken Base Takeaway
S S S Chicken Base Takeaway is a fried chicken takeaway on Goodmayes Ln in Ilford, open daily. The wings come with a spicy sauce the owner makes himself, which gives the kitchen a house-made element alongside the usual fried chicken. Burgers cover a fillet burger, a cheese burger and a chicken burger, and they come in quarter-pound, half-pound and full-pounder sizes, so the order can match the appetite. Loaded fries arrive topped with chicken, beans, gravy and salad. Box meals bundle fries, wings, a piece of fried chicken and a burger in one order, which suits anyone who wants a full spread without choosing item by item.

Customer Review Summary
Wings draw the most praise, described as super crusty outside and tender and succulent inside, with one customer of over a decade calling them in a league of their own and pointing to the house-made spicy sauce. Burgers come close behind, including the Tenten Chicken Burger, called juicy and flavorful, and the quarter, half and full pounder burgers, said to be made to perfection and always fresh. A newer loaded fries dish with chicken, beans, gravy and salad is described as very filling and similar to a jacket potato. Several reviewers praise friendly staff and great service. Complaints centre on consistency. One reviewer found refried chips too hard and threw half away, another received a fillet burger like solid rock at closing time from rude staff, and one enjoyed everything except the cheese burger. One diner found the food soggy after sitting in the box. The sharpest complaint is an Uber Eats order of two box meals where both burgers arrived as two buns stuck together with mayo and salad and no chicken inside.

“Been coming here for over 12 years now and something that has never dropped once is the quality. Bossman makes his own spicy sauce that you cannot miss out on and the wings are in a league of their own compared to any you can find anywhere else. 10/10”

“Really disappointing! I ordered two box meals from Uber Eats, and both meals arrived with no burger in the bun. As you can clearly see from the photos, no chicken has even touched the inside of the bun – it was literally just two buns stuck together with mayo and salad. It’s such a shame because the fries, wings, and fried chicken piece were fresh. But for both meals to be missing the burger is honestly a joke. Quality control appears to be non-existent.”
