Quick info
About Seven Kings Fish Bar
A masala range shapes the menu at Seven Kings Fish Bar, a fish and chips shop on Green Lane in Ilford where the batter choice extends past plain to a masala coating or a Southern fried one, and most items can be ordered either way. Masala fish and masala paneer bites arrive with the shop's homemade chilli sauce, while burgers are made in house, including a paneer version. The counter also covers the standard chip shop range, with cod and chips, saveloy, and chips with curry sauce as a familiar pairing. Orders are taken on a walk-in basis, with no reservations, and delivery runs through Just Eat for anyone eating off site. A step-free entrance keeps the shop reachable for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Outdoor seating gives customers the option of eating their order in the open air. The shop opens daily.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific and recur. Several reviewers say standards have dropped: a fried saveloy and dry, overcooked chips, a hard bun with half-cooked chips and smelly fish skin, and a cod portion described as a thin sliver under thick, greasy, stodgy batter. One delivery customer reports masala fish missing from a Just Eat order and says the owner refused responsibility. Another notes no space to eat in and charges for ketchup and mayonnaise.

“Ordred quarter pounder, cod and chips. The bun was hard as rock. Half of the chips were not cooked properly. Fish had alot of skin left over which was very smelly. Standards have dropped massively. Won't be going back there again. Waste of £30.”

“The nicest fish bar around. The masala fish is spicy but tasty. The atmosphere is hilarious especially being entertained by the staff who are often found arguing amongst themselves. Its a busy place and the food is lovely. Chips are well done and fish is lovely and crispy. Definately a place to try if you are around in the area and looking for some decent fish and chips.”

“I ordered food from this establishment through Just Eat. After one hour and fifteen minutes the actually arrived. I ordered masala fish and chips, the delivery bag wasn’t sealed and the masala fish was missing. I spoke with the shops manager / owner and he totally refused responsibility for the missing food and he really wasn’t bothered. He out and out blamed the delivery driver for taking the fish and said he was only a third party and wasn’t responsible in any way. I have been using this fish shop under previous owners and the current ones for over fifty years and I don’t think the just eat system works.”

“This place used be okay, but been getting bad to worse. I ordered 2 Cod and chips and we actually felt like we have been ripped off. I’ve never seen such a thin sliver of Cod and I used to be a fish monger. The batter was thick, greasy and stodgy. We will have to find an another place to go to.”
