About il teatro
Il teatro is an Italian restaurant and wine bar in Hull, run by an Italian-Polish couple at 49 Princes Ave. The menu is atypical for an Italian, with lamb chops among the mains and a specials board that has included lasagne. The kitchen works through the day, from coffee and croissants to brunch, lunch and dinner. The bar pours cocktails and an Italian wine selection. Homemade cannoli feature among the desserts. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the owner, described as passionate and helpful, who explains the menu, knows where key ingredients come from and steers undecided tables toward dishes they later call lush. The food is repeatedly called fresh and delicious, with generous portions. Reviewers name the lamb chops, steak and meatballs, a lasagne from the specials board with a rocket and parmesan salad, and an aubergine dish at brunch. Close behind is the cannoli, one reviewer's best in a very long time, along with a homemade tart and a customisable fresh juice of pineapple, ginger and apple. One reviewer praises the Italian wine selection, and another calls the coffee, served with an added croissant, perfect. The menu is called atypical for an Italian, which one reviewer says makes it stand out. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner all draw visits, and the atmosphere is described as warm and welcoming. At one brunch, the staff sang Happy Birthday to a friend at the table.

“What an absolute pleasure to have been able to experience this fantastic, quaint restaurant/wine bar. The chefs are bringing you a piece of Italy in form of food to your table, the service is spot on and the owners are very passionate, knowledgeable about what they offer to the guests and always friendly. We enjoyed every moment being there and would 1000% recommend going there on a date, a pleasant evening out or a lovely Italian style breakfast; whatever your preference- check this place out if you’re in the area. We will be going back there again!!”

“An atmospheric place — the Il Teatro restaurant, run by an exceptionally friendly and helpful Italian-Polish couple, and of course, most importantly, serving absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented. I will definitely come back and highly recommend it. Importantly, you can already enjoy great coffee and breakfast here in the late morning hours, stop by for lunch, or have dinner, as the restaurant is open practically throughout most of the day.”

“We had such a lovely brunch at this restaurant! My aubergine dish was absolutely delicious, and the cannoli was honestly the best I’ve had in a very long time. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all fantastic. They even sang Happy Birthday for my friend, which made the experience feel extra special. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience — we’ll definitely see you again soon!”
