About Whistling Goose
Whistling Goose is a pub in Hull at 114 Amsterdam Rd, open daily. The kitchen works around a flaming grill, with steaks, burgers and chicken on the menu, and a Sunday roast is served. Vegetarian and vegan dishes sit alongside them, including a Falafel Burger. Family meals come with deals such as "2 for" offers and a BOGOF Thursday. Dogs get their own menu of chicken and sausages cooked for them and served in a dog bowl, with complimentary treats, so dog owners can bring their pets along for a meal. A pool table and sport on TV fill out the bar side. A space inside the pub can be rented for functions.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the family meals, singling out the steak and chicken as cooked to request and not dry, plus the 2 for deal lunch that one diner found hot and delicious. Close behind is the dog-friendly welcome, where a dog gets chicken and sausages in a dog bowl, along with complimentary treats. Several praise the kids' play area with its kick ball space and slide, and others mention the pool table, sport on TV and clean toilets. The complaints are sharper. One reviewer waited around 15 minutes at the bar while staff served younger customers first, and another waited roughly 45 minutes for the children's puddings, which were then dropped on the table without a word. One calls the Southern Fried Chicken Burger small for its cost and the Falafel Burger poor for vegans, and another found some glasses and cutlery needing more cleaning. Several still describe friendly staff, including a server who brought the dog's chicken in a bowl.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a lovely meal at the Whistling Goose in Bransholme. The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions and great value for money. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside, and the outdoor area is perfect on a nice day. It's also dog-friendly, so if you have a dog, you can bring them along and enjoy your meal outside together. We'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!”

“So, after fancying a bite to eat, as a late tea we decided to pop here with it being local. All I will say is, what a waste of time!!! I understand that with it being the holidays, places will be busier then usual, but at 19.00 it wasn’t really that busy. We chose what we wanted and I went to stand at the bar to get served, that’s where the problems started, the young girl who was serving seemed more interested in serving the young lads in the bar area. After waiting around 15 minutes for her to serve the drinks she looked over and saw me waiting, she then looked away and started to serve another gentleman from the bar area. There was another lady waiting before me who had been there longer then I had, finally a barmaid with dark hair came over and served the First Lady in the queue, when she had finished I moved up to the till thinking I would be served next, no that never happened either, she looked at me sternly and asked if the drinks behind the bar were for me, I replied no, she picked them up and went off delivering them. Now I get they have other jobs to do but when there is customers waiting at the bar to be served you would think a bit more common courtesy would be used, but no she came back to the bar after clearing some glasses up and still chose to look at me and carry on walking as if I was invisible. I was now at the point that I was not willing to wait any longer for a member of staff and chose to go back to my table where we decided we would take our business elsewhere, maybe you should have signs up that say you are only willing to serve regular customers or young lads as that seems all that was happening tonight. Safe to say your customer service was horrendous considering it wasn't exactly busy and I will not be recommending you to anyone I know. On a side note I will thank you as we did end up having a lovely meal elsewhere which will now become a regular.”

“Visited for lunch for the first time in a few years after hearing bad reviews.. Well what a discovery. It wasn’t too busy and our food was brought to our table soon after sitting down. We ordered from the 2 for £13.49 and it was hot and delicious, definitely worth another visit and soon.”
