About The Minerva
The Minerva is a waterfront pub on Nelson St in Hull, overlooking the marina and the Humber near the museum quarter. The older building holds several separate spaces inside, with tables set in alcoves and nooks. The kitchen works from a menu of 16 dishes, including homemade sausage rolls and Scotch eggs, plus fish and chips made with haddock and home made chips. A rotating selection of gin runs alongside beers served by the pint and the half. A private dining room is available for groups. The kitchen also updates its specials regularly.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is the draw reviewers raise most, with the haddock described as fried to perfection, the batter good and the home made chips a highlight. Close behind come the burgers, including a veggie burger and a halloumi, pepper and mushroom one, along with a fish pie that one diner found surprisingly tasty and like a home cooked one. Reviewers also mention a cheese salad with a huge amount of cheese, soup of the day and a jacket potato, and they describe specials that change regularly and decent portions. Several praise friendly staff and a cosy, old pub with different spaces and alcoves, plus a view over the quay and marina and music that is pleasant without being loud. The one criticism is a cajun chicken salad that a diner found a tad too hard. Several say the pub fills quickly, and a few suggest booking at popular times. One lunchtime visitor saw three groups turned away by around 12.15 because every seat was occupied or reserved.

“The food and drink was really great. It is a chaming traditional English seaside pub. It has plenty of different spaces so feels very cosy. The night we went it was windy and wet, the pub was warm. The staff were really friendly and helpful.”

“I have had many a meal at this place and will continue to come back and recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to eat or drink around the marina. The food is always great, hot, tasty, and in fantastic portions. The staff are always friendly and attentive and always busy. You will definitely be better off booking as it's very popular.”

“We popped out onto the marina yesterday for something to eat, and we decided to get a salad at the Minerva. We're currently dieting, so we thought we'd stick with salad. Both got a cheese salad! Huge amount of cheese! Think we bust on calories yesterday, but we certainly enjoyed it 😋”

“Serving great beers and fish & chips since 1829!!! Arrived before 12 on a Friday lunchtime, and got an unreserved table in the bar area. Enjoyed a superb haddock, chips and mushy peas, plus a pint of Tim Taylor Boltmaker for £21, circa 910 THB. Saw 3 groups turned away by around 12.15 as every seat was occupied/reserved.”
