About Coffee Boy - Huddersfield
Coffee Boy is a drive-thru and dine-in coffee shop at 204 Wakefield Rd in Huddersfield, so customers can order from the car or sit inside. The doughnuts are large and come coated in flavours and chocolates, which gives the drive-thru a sweet option to take away. The drinks side includes an iced caramel latte and hot chocolate, and a toasted butter bagel is on hand for something savoury. The dining area gets good natural light. Re-usable cups are available, and a loyalty program takes money off future purchases.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the main draw, described as lovely and proper, with specifics including an iced caramel latte, a blended caramel coffee made to order with oat milk, and a hot chocolate one reviewer prefers to the chains. Doughnuts come close behind, praised as large, indulgent and nostalgic, and one visitor calls the atmosphere good for meetings, work or study. A toasted butter bagel and the sweet treats also get positive mentions. Service is the recurring complaint, and it takes up most of the negative reviews. Several describe staff ignoring them at the counter and chatting, then giving a curt order-taking and plonking items on the table, while friendlier treatment went to other customers. One had to repeat an order twice. Food draws sharper criticism from one table, who found the scrambled eggs dry and the BBQ chicken buried in runny sauce and too much cheese. Another reviewer's reusable cup earned no discount at the till. One coffee arrived already spilled over the mug, with more spilling on the table and no napkins offered.

“Just want to say the food and drinks are lovely but the attitude of your staff leaves something to be desired I know these jobs can be soul sucking but when I’ve been perfectly pleasant, respectful and you all act uninterested/inconvenienced or mouth little comments amongst yourselves like I wouldn’t notice when I’m just politely waiting (never sure whether to sit at my table or wait to grab the items at the end, I was just trying to be polite) And the girl hiding behind the wall to say something didn’t go unnoticed either and wasn’t sly. It’s such a lovely visual vibe inside with the decor etc but, staff could really do with extra training on customer service and respect, especially since customers they’re more familiar with (maybe friends) were getting all smiles and banter whereas my items were just plonked on my table with not even a smile, it is so off putting. Please work on that, I know a lot customers can be horrific and nasty but, being rude and ignorant to everyone just isn’t great practice.”

“I went through the drive through today and the guy with beard has awful customer service. He took my order and then I went round to the window and he shoved the card reader at me without saying hi and he just said the price of what I owe. I said pls can I scan my app and he said yes so I scanned that and then he started to give me the drink when I wanted to pay so he saw me holding my card and he put the drink back on the counter so that I paid before getting the drink. He scraped my card on the car reader and I nearly dropped the card. Then as it was processing I was trying to quickly take my phone out the cup holder and make space for the drink and I just huffed to myself because of the awkwardness. After a sec, I turned around to get the drink he didn’t say ‘here’s your drink’ like people usually do if ur not paying attention so when I turned around and he was just holding it out the window staring at me I was like oh right. I grabbed the drink and said thank you and he started giggling like something was funny. I stared at him for a sec and then he said ‘have a safe journey’ in a very cheeky and sarcastic tone. I will not be going back unless something will be done about this, I’ve been ignored by him in the past when trying to order and have seen reviews about him being just awful as well. Every time I come in there seems to be a problem with the workers. There’s only one lovely lady and one lovely young man who are very attentive and helpful. Everyone else ignores me when I’m at the counter waiting to order and I’ve seen this with a lot of other people. Get your staff in check, it’s embarrassing. :)”

“A nice busy shop is always a good sign that the place is gonna be good. Ordered a blended caramel coffee with oat milk and it was made to order (dairy intolerance).”

“I’m honestly really disappointed with my experiences at Coffeeboy, and after this happening twice now, I feel like I need to speak up. The first time we came, there were 4 of us. We were left waiting to be served while staff clearly saw us but chose to ignore us and continue chatting. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, but we brushed it off at the time. Today just confirmed everything. This time there were only 2 of us, and it was the exact same treatment — if not worse. We waited at least 10 minutes while staff acknowledged us and then turned away, continuing their conversations instead of serving us. It genuinely felt like we were being avoided. When we were finally served, the attitude was rude and dismissive — just “what you having?” with no manners or basic customer service. Then when our drinks came, they were practically thrown onto the table. What made it even worse was watching the same staff member go to another table right after, smiling, being friendly, and serving them properly. The difference in how we were treated compared to others was obvious and upsetting. After experiencing this twice, I looked through other reviews, and it’s concerning to see similar experiences being mentioned by people from different backgrounds who also felt they were treated differently. That pattern raises serious concerns. Overall, this has left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. No one should feel like that in a place they’re paying to be in. Really poor experience.”
