Quick info
About The Loft Coffee Shop
Seating runs up in the loft of a stone building on Back Ln, with more room downstairs and tables outside for eating in the open air. The Loft Coffee Shop sits minutes from the Trans Pennine Trail and off the main road, which makes it a stopping point for cyclists and walkers passing through. Breakfast covers a full English and a veggie version, while paninis arrive with side salad and crisps, and fresh cakes and scones fill out the counter. Coffee and espresso lead the drinks, with pots of tea poured alongside. It runs on walk-ins rather than bookings, and tables can be hard to come by at busy times. High chairs make it workable for families with young children, and dogs are welcome throughout. The doors open daytimes across the week, with Tuesdays closed. It stands near the Tesco car park in Penistone.

Customer Review Summary
The main caveat comes from one reviewer who found the shop cluttered, with limited room for tables. They started in a cramped area on small chairs that felt like a children's tea party and moved only when a larger table became free, and they would avoid busy times. Another reviewer notes the cafe always seems busy, and one grabbed the last table at 9.05am. Several mention seating upstairs, downstairs and outside, with a dog friendly room downstairs.

“We visited the loft today for breakfast, I had the veggie and my husband had the full English. They were both delicious, with a generous portion size. Coffee was steaming hot too which is rare in most places. Plenty of choice on the menu and a fantastic selection of fresh cakes to choose from! Staff were super welcoming and friendly, and extremely efficient. We will definitely be returning when we're in the area! A wonderful relaxed treat for a Sunday morning! Thank you 🩷”

“Good stop over for a cuppa and a bacon sandwich, also away from the main road which is good for cycle riders, well worth a visit.”

“Popped in with 40 mins to spare whilst waiting for a someone and bagged the last table at 9.05am! Great service, good value food £13.95 for breakfast, large coffee and a big slice of cake (takeaway). Spotless toilet as well. Thankyou so much! Highly recommended.”
