About Afrikana Hounslow
Afrikana Hounslow is a halal grill in Hounslow, on Unity Ln, and it opens daily. The kitchen grills peri peri chicken and sends it out with Afrikana sauces on the side, so each diner can choose from several peri peri flavours. Jollof rice appears on the menu as "Afrikana rice", and the chicken comes in a half portion, in a rice bowl, or in a salad. Goat curry is also on the menu, listed as curry goat at lunchtime. The dining room is large and roomy, with a few quieter nooks for those who want a corner table.

Customer Review Summary
The caveats are real. One reviewer found the lady fingers fibrous, the lamb chops mostly fat, and the chicken in a rice bowl mostly cartilage, though the lady fingers were refunded. Another says the chicken in the Afrikana salad was very dry, and one calls the food pricey. On a busy Valentine's night, a family waited over an hour and a half, with a starter arriving after the main and the nachos dry and missing salsa.

“This restaurant is new in my local area and I’d been wanting to try it for a few months; I’m very glad I did! It can be a risk eating in chain restaurants like Afrikana as food and service can be very hit and miss, but thankfully this wasn’t. All the meals served on our table were excellent and made with quality ingredients; salmon with rice, jerk bbq chicken with rice, and a lamb kebab with chips and flatbread. I was skeptical about what the food would be like here but was happy to be proven wrong. My lamb kebab was succulent and beautifully cooked, as were the other meals on the table. The Afrikana sauces available are also great and easily rival Nandos for flavour. The decor is decent inside, and the music wasn’t too loud. There were a decent number of tables eating for a random Tuesday night too, which gave the place a good ambiance. Staff provided a decent level of service and the food arrived in good time. The prices were competitive to other similar style restaurants in London but they don’t even add a service charge to the bill here! That is such a rarity these days, especially in London! The next time I want an evening meal in my local area, I’ll be returning to Afrikana. I’d even choose it over Nandos due to the prices, variety on the menu and quality of food being served here. Thanks Afrikana - keep doing what you’re doing, it’s great!”

“This restaurant is absolutely stunning, the decor is very modern and the use of warm lighting helps with the ambience. I have had Afrikana food previously at the Dalston branch and the now closed Hayes branch and I must say the food here is fantastic as is the service. Our server today was Loveleen, who is appropriately named, as her service was wonderful and absolutely lovely. To be honest everyone here was brilliant and for that a big thank you to the team here and I will definitely be back again soon. I had half chicken in mixed peri peri flavour with a side order of mac and cheese. The chicken was not too dry and was grilled very nicely and the choice of sauces on the side would give another popular grilled chicken place a run for its money. For me though, that mac and cheese was banging. Exactly what I needed to keep me happy and full. Overall a very good experience both in terms of customer service and cuisine and as I said before, I will be back again!”

“Had a fantastic meal at Afrikana Hounslow. The steaks were cooked really well and packed with flavour, and every dish we tried was rich, well-seasoned, and full of taste. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the staff remained polite, attentive, and provided good service throughout our visit. The atmosphere was lively, and the quality of the food definitely made the wait worthwhile. If you’re looking for flavourful food and great steaks in Hounslow, this place is well worth a visit.”

“The ambiance was beautiful and the food was amazing!! The staffs were very friendly and helpful. They also mentioned that they have changed the name of Jollof rice to Afrikana rice in the menu.”

“Unfortunately the overall experience was very sub par. Good points: friendly and responsive staff, and very good mocktails. Room for dire improvement: The food. Most of the Lady fingers were inedible - being completely fibrous and impossible to pull apart (luckily they refunded this item from our bill). The lamb chops were mostly tough and inedible fat, however the meat present was to an ok standard (although it still lacked flavour). The chicken in the chicken and rice bowl (ordered medium spicy) was predominantly cartilage. And the burger (the dish that we managed to finish) severely lacked flavour, the beef itself had a very weak taste of beef. Stronger flavours were expected, meaning ill continue to rely on the more prevalent and “cheekier” alternative in this restaurant category.”
