  “Had an incredible Engagement Party at The Dun Cow yesterday! 💍 🍻 The venue was set up beautifully for us, we wanted for nothing and everything ran extremely smoothly. The buffet for was delicious and got so many compliments. They let us use our own speaker and karaoke system for music which was a huge hit and the outside seating summer night vibes were immaculate. The owner and all staff were extremely accommodating and helpful during the whole process allowing us to set up the night before. If you want a fun, pretty, easy and and wholesome party/event choose here.”

  “A little hidden gem. A small, traditional English stone house with lots of charm and coziness. The dishes are classic and cooked with fresh ingredients. One of the few restaurants that still serve fresh, homemade dishes.”

  “I was so looking forward to a meal here, I picked one of my favourites, steak n ale pie, chips, peas. The pie came out of a box from a shop which had no taste and had been micro'd to death, the cheapest were a burnt colour but warmed up from earlier, the mushy peas were stone cold, the gravy was off Sunday roast which also had no taste at all. A most disappointing experience which I will not repeat.”

  “Lovely lady behind the bar was so friendly, we were too late for food but had some delicious drinks. Beautiful decor and lighting, absolutely loved it inside. Kindly allowed us to stay overnight in the carpark in our motorhome which was a pleasant quiet car park.”

  “Popped in for lunch, such a warm welcome from the owner who was obviously busy but he made time to chat and make you feel welcome. I was recommended the Beef brisket and wow! Unbelievable, huge portion and tasted amazing 👏 the spaghetti was five 🌟”

  “The Dun Cow is a warm, welcoming pub with great food, the decor has a prefect bend of rustic charm and modern comfort to it. The owner and team go out of their way to make you feel right at home, with a cozy atmosphere and unmistakable sense that good food and good company are taken seriously. Located in Bournmoor, it’s a great stop if you’re exploring Durham or Newcastle — just off the A1, making it an ideal pit stop. There’s a large car park, and we’ve seen a few motorhomes parked up during our visits, so it seems to be a friendly spot to stay on your travels. The spacious beer garden overlooks fields of cows! offering plenty of room to relax and enjoy the lush surroundings. We had the chicken burger and the squid — both absolutely delicious, and we’re currently working our way through the menu! Other menu also include the spicy Hotshot Parmo, hot roast beef stotties, hearty pies, and traditional roasts with all the trimmings. Even the lighter options, like quiche or paninis, all come with lush, chunky, homecooked chips. If you enjoy a good laugh and a bit of trivia, there’s a quiz night every Wednesday — we’re yet to pop over for it, but it sounds like a great evening. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, stopping in for a meal, drink, or quiz night, it's well worth a visit. (:”

  “Popped in for Lunch on Saturday 27/09/25. Thought it would be busy at 1.30pm however it was very, very quiet, in fact we only saw one person in there. Don’t be put off by that though as there is no reason not to go and enjoy a lovely meal. Service was impressive and quick and we had our drinks in minutes while we perused the menu. We all ordered from the specials menu and the food was delicious. I ordered Chicken Kiev and it was tasty and juicy, perfect. Prices were what I would expect so reasonable for what we ate. Not sure why it’s soo quiet however it shouldn’t be as it was great. Thank you for the food 🙌”

  “Avoid like the plague, absolutely vile. Service wasn't the best maybe due to lack of experience. Waitress was pleasant and tried, absolutely no atmosphere, it was dirty the place is falling apart - refurbishments is something you can look past if the food is of standard, unfortunately this place deserves to shut. Got the meatball starter with authentic meatballs , it got sent back piping hot sauce stale bread and rock hard meatballs, came back for the 2nd time bread slightly better 1 and 1/2 meatballs got left out of 2. Main I got the hot shot parmo as you can see from the picture it didn't get much better. Over cooked chicken to a degree parts were cremated as above shows, the jalapeños and salad weren't fresh. (my partner tried her salad) I didn't want to chance more disappointment. Pints were sour but fizzy , maybe dirty lines who knows. Partner got chicken burger much of the same review sadly I didn't get pictures of her meal as she wanted to get out ASAP. Maybe the hand car wash is your safest bet located in the car park for satisfaction. Find somewhere else to spend your hard earned money it's £51.45 I won't be getting back.”
