Quick info
About The Sticky Wicket
The Sticky Wicket is a bar on the street address in Chester Le Street that combines a pub and sports bar with a function room and live music venue under one roof. Multiple TVs run throughout the space for watching sport, and the kitchen covers a casual menu built around pizzas, burgers and a Sunday lunch. The room also hosts quiz nights, and the team books private parties and events that can, on occasion, close the bar to walk-in trade for the duration of the booking. Dogs are welcome inside, and outdoor seating sits at the front with free tables on the pavement. The format suits both a quick match-day pint and a planned gathering, and the kitchen runs alongside the bar rather than as a separate dining room.

“Walked over a mile to get to the pub with my elderly parents (included my disabled father on his motability scooter) to be told by unhelpful, surly staff that 'we can't serve you because there is a private party on'. No apology, just no can do. Loads of free tables outside where we could have quietly sat for one drink. Very poor service and lack of hospitality.”

“Stay away on Saturdays We’ve been before and it’s been lovely but I wish there was some signage to say there was a private event on before you go in cause that’s happened two times now there’s been an event on and you can’t go in. if there was a sign so sorry I missed it, but to wait at the Bar and get to being served then to be told no if you’re not part of the private party happening can be annoying if there’s nothing to say that??? Spent money on an uber to get there just to get turned away at the bar”

“Absolutely disgusting food, even worse service. What an absolute rip off. Special mention to Grace who could not have been more rude. I’ve never had an issue experience like it. Vile.”

“Came to quiz night with friends, amazing pizza, great atmosphere! Ethan was delight, fantastic quiz master. Definitely be back.”
