Casa del Mar
Quick info
About Casa del Mar
Casa del Mar is a Spanish tapas restaurant and bar on Middleton Rd in Hartlepool, with outdoor seating that looks out over the marina. The kitchen serves tapas in small and grande plate sizes, alongside dishes such as paella, calamari, and peppercorn chicken, with chips available as a side. A two-course set menu runs as a lunch and saver option. Table service is provided throughout, and reservations are recommended, since the dining room fills up and a wait for a table is common at busier times. High chairs are available for families with young children, and a step-free entrance allows access for visitors with mobility needs. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday and closed on Mondays and Sundays. Sticky toffee pudding rounds out the menu for dessert.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers repeatedly single out the tapas and small plates as the main draw, with the goats cheese dish called "incredible" and the paella noted as needing more spice by comparison. The peppercorn chicken and calamari from a lunch set menu also earn praise, alongside a mini dessert platter one party had swapped to chocolate fudge cake after simply asking. Several describe generous portions at reasonable prices, with one lunch for three coming to just over forty pounds. Most describe fast service and a full, lively room, though a few report the opposite: one lunchtime visit describes a cold room eaten in coats, a flat pint of Madri, cutlery left on the floor, and chicken fajitas and a creamy chicken sauce served lukewarm, while a separate visitor mentions being unable to flag anyone down for more drinks despite the restaurant being quiet. Several call the marina setting and staff a highlight, and one large birthday party left having ordered nearly everything on the menu, describing the meal as consistently strong for their six-person table.

“Nice food it wasn’t very busy but seemed like everyone was pre occupied we wanted some more drinks but gave up as no one came to serve us. Paella needed a bit more flavour, maybe some more spice but the goats cheese was incredible lovely dish .. deffo order this one. Great value £14.95 for 3 tapas”
