About The Queen Victoria

The Queen Victoria is a renovated pub in Guildford, on Station Row. Its walled beer garden gives drinkers and diners a place to enjoy a drink or a meal outdoors. The kitchen cooks its food fresh, and the business also operates as a restaurant, so a visit can centre on a meal as easily as on a drink at the bar. Dogs are welcome, which suits guests who bring a pet along. The garden, the kitchen and the bar all sit within the one renovated building on Station Row.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the pints, singling out Timothy Taylor Landlord and Amstel, with the garden close behind in the sun. Chilli nachos and a Father's Day roast with pudding also earn praise, and friendly staff come up. Two visitors report the kitchen closing early on a Friday, then being told to leave over takeaway ordered elsewhere. One notes no food is served on Tuesdays.

“👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Went there with a small group of family. (4 adults and a child) for a quick bite and a few drinks while waiting. However upon ordering the first round we were told kitchen closes at 18:00 (no food after 18:00 in a pub on a friday?? Seriously dude? 😳😳 (it was past 17:30 when ordered drinks) and were told at 17:45 won’t take any food orders. Very odd. Us still starving though to do food delivery from elsewhere. Selection of food were chicken or chicken 🤭(I agree, should have checked it with the staff wether if it’s okay with them or not, but we didn’t. Once food delivery arrived were were told to leave as we are not welcomed. Owner lady was the rudest person Ive ever met, she had a little dog that nipped my little niece’s hand, luckily left no marks, still a terrifying experience for a child. Worst ever pub visit in my life. Ohh almost forgot about the glasses… ohh boy were they dirty?? Absolutely. Wish I had taken some photos of how dirty they were. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼”

“I have a lot of fond memories of this pub, as it was my very first workplace many years ago.We make a point of visiting whenever we’re in the area, so this visit was especially disappointing. We arrived just after 5:30 pm as a group of four adults and one child, planning to have dinner and drinks. We ordered drinks first, but when we asked for menus, we were told the kitchen was already closing. On a Friday evening, this was unexpected and left us having to order food elsewhere. As paying customers who wanted to stay for more drinks, we didn’t think it was unreasonable to eat the takeaway we had ordered, especially as this had been allowed in the past!. Instead, we were told we had to leave, which felt unnecessarily unwelcoming. The most upsetting part of the evening was that the owner’s dog approached my 4 year old daughter. She held out her hand to it, and the dog jumped up and bit her. Thankfully she wasn’t injured, but she was very upset and in tears. When we mentioned what had happened, we felt our concerns were dismissed, and we were told it hadn’t happened. Another customer suggested that my daughter should have been supervised, which I found hurtful. I was watching her the entire time, but young children can have an unexpected interaction in a split second.I simply wanted the situation to be acknowledged and for more care to be taken around children. We left feeling unwelcome and saddened.A place that I once had such positive memories of has completely lost its warm atmosphere. Sadly, I won’t be returning while the current management remains. If the pub changes hands in the future, I’d be happy to give it another chance, as I’d love to see it become the welcoming place I remember.”

“The Pub ist great with a very historic background. Nice to talk to the staff. We were visiting on a Tuesday, be aware there will be no food served on this day, but you can enjoy a beer or anything else anyway. Highly recommended.”
