About The Stoke
The Stoke is a pub at 103 Stoke Rd in Guildford, open daily, with live music, comedy, quiz and poker nights on its events lineup. Between those nights, the games include shuffleboard, darts, pool tables and a Scrabble board built into a table, and leather sofas furnish part of the room. Screens show sport, including Wimbledon and England football games, and tables can be booked to watch the match. The kitchen serves Sunday roast, katsu fries and a small plates section. Visitors heading to gigs at The Boiler Room often stop in beforehand. A drinks rewards scheme is redeemed by scanning a QR code.

Customer Review Summary
Staff draw the most praise at The Stoke, described as friendly, helpful and attentive, from a bartender who quickly fixed a problem with the darts and shuffleboard setup to a team member who sorted a drinks reward after a QR code scanned but paid nothing. Close behind is the Sunday roast, called the best one a reviewer had eaten in a restaurant, plus a Christmas lunch so big the diners could not finish it. One reviewer highly recommends the pizza. The games get a mention too, including Scrabble built into a table and shuffleboard. Food also draws the sharpest complaints. One roast arrived with chewy, salty beef and not much of it. Another reviewer found much of the Sunday night menu off, including the pizza the pub used to be known for. A third says the katsu fries now come as a giant slop of beige after the small plates section was halved. One sports fan was left annoyed when a staff member switched the screens from tennis to football on match point.

“Have had the best Sunday roast today at The Stoke. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was the best roast I’ve had in a restaurant and we had a lovely time sat out in the sunshine. Many thanks.”

“We had a great experience at The Stoke thanks to Matt. My friends and I were having an issue with our drinks rewards. Our QR code scanned successfully, but we didn’t receive the reward, and at that point none of the other staff were able to help us. Matt stepped in, sorted everything out quickly, and made the whole process easy. He was very friendly, helpful, and professional throughout. Excellent customer service, and he really turned a frustrating situation into a positive experience. Thanks again, Matt!”

“Been to The Stoke a bunch of times. It's fine, does what it does well, no complaints. Food is good for the price, drinks are decent value and it's got the sports pub vibe... And that's what leads me on to the two star review. Randomly came in late this evening 30/6/26 and Wimbledon was on the screens, Serena Vs Joint. The pub was quite quiet, no world cup masses, and my wife and I were probably the only people of about 10 inside the pub actually watching the screens. Then, literally on match point, the final serve, a staff member comes over and switches the channel to football, "big match tonight, need the volume!" He honestly only needed to wait 10 seconds or ask us if it was ok - he genuinely stepped in front of us and tapped the controller as the critical serve was being made! Ok. It was 9.55 so there was at least 5 minutes until the football kicked off. Honestly, it was so clearly ridiculous that we couldn't help feeling it was deliberate for some reason or the guy was just a dimple. Didn't even bother to apologise when we made it clear what he'd done. I'm not even really a sports guy, but seriously? Sports pub?? Not sure...”

“Came here on a quiet Tuesday and got the katsu fries which used to come with chillies and spring onions and coriander, just came as a giant slop of beige. Such a shame as I used to rave about the food here. Guessing they recently changed the menu here which is such a shame as always loved the small plates section when on a quick pop, in which has now been halved! Really sad to see a beloved pub take that turn :(”
