  “Overnight stop in town so asked Google to find me great place for healthy breakfast. Brisk walk from digs and here I am. Lovely staff, very helpful. Went for the poached eggs with salmon and salsa Verde with cup of tea. Perfect. 10/10. Oh, the café is tricky to find from the main street but persevere. Walk all the way down the narrow steps to the main dock at the bottom and you'll see it. Well worth persevering. Thanks.”

  “I waste 15 pounds on Friday. I ordered an English breakfast. Dry/overcooked food. Weird smelling baked beans Poach egg instead fried egg, also over toasted bread and Bacon overcooked dry, Just the sausage was nice. Please chef Is basic cooking Can u get it done properly. I would like to have my money back or a free meal. Very disappointed. ☹️ I did not said anything the day because I was rushing to get to the bus stop in time and Also I was with my son I did not want complain in front of him.”

  “Really enjoyed my bacon roll and flat white on Friday. Good value for £7.50 too. Only critism is a lack of comfy chairs. We sat outside and I had to improvise with a blanket on my chair as there were no outdoor cushions.”

  “Fabulous (and reasonablely priced ) cream teas for most of our party. One person sampled soup of the day - celeriac and something soup - also delicious. Started in the sunshine on the terrace and finished inside to escape unseasonsal rainstorm. Both very comfortable. Super friendly staff. We will be back!”

  “Great service but the vegan breakfast options were very lacking. They were happy to remove the egg from the vegetarian option, and add a hash brown, but there was no protein alternative (sausage/tofu). I am pretty certain that I was also served dairy butter too. Quite a disappointing breakfast experience.”

  “We were visiting the food festival and were disappointed in the lack of food options so went looking for alternatives and stumbled across this hidden gem! Whilst we saw some very healthy looking dishes go out to other tables, we went old school and had the full English... Damn good decision, cracking breakfast! I took the black pudding add-on on and it was worth every penny, black pudding can be hit and miss, these guys have a great one. Friendly, helpful, quick and professional staff. This is an easy review to write, and place to recommend, it's on my revisit list. If you have a walk down the canal keep an eye out for the swans nesting!”

  “Tasty sandwiches. Great portion sizes and good views of the historic docks. Would recommend the salt beef and nasty chips. The ceaser salad looked huge!”

  “Roots and Seeds is directly below Wholly Gelato, the place where it is alleged that Jimi Hendrix penned Voodoo Child. It's quite amazing that Roots and Seeds also has a claim to fame. When Doctor Foster went to Gloucester his first stop was to enter this café for refreshment. The latte he drank tasted a little bitter but his pallet quickly adjusted and he thoroughly enjoyed the beverage he was given. The sort of brew that stands out in a crowd, for all the right reasons. The smiley ☺️ person behind the counter proved not only to be friendly and welcoming but also showed her prowess in the art of swirly making. Doctor Foster was a happy chappy, he didn't eat but he did notice that there were a good selection of munchables on offer. He also noted that Roots and Seeds welcomed four-legged 🐕🌭🐩 friends as well. As the Doctor left he stepped in a puddle, unfortunately all road repair units were busy building the Golden Valley bypass and the puddle proved to be a lot deeper than first thought. The water went all the way up to Doctor Foster's middle. He was embarrassed and vowed never to go there again. His loss, 'cos Roots and Seeds is definitely worth visiting more than once.”
