Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the Sticky Korean Chicken Bowl, which one diner called one of the better ones they've had and another's partner finished entirely. Close behind are the quick drinks and food ordered on the app, with Poretti lager and a scampi, peas and chips plate also named, and several praise the waterside location and busy, lively atmosphere. Value is split: some find pints and food nicely priced, while one calls the food rubbish despite the meal-with-a-drink deal. The recurring complaint is cleanliness and staffing, with tables left uncleared and covered in used plates and glasses, and one reviewer clearing their own. Order mistakes also come up: a Korean bowl arrived with rice instead of chips, a panini came without cheese, chips were warm, and the fish was called very blank. One diner said staff threw down bowls after a long wait, and another said a server refused to swap a wrong order until a manager replaced the meal. In another case a mixed-up order ended with a free second bottle of Bulmers Red Berries.

“We visited this Wetherspoon on a Friday and had a great time. As always with this chain, it offers great standard quality and reliable service that never fails. The location at the docks is beautiful, and Friday is a fantastic day to visit since their classic pub prices are even lower. It’s a huge, lively spot and the absolute best option in the area for a casual, budget-friendly drink and bite to eat. Highly recommended!”

“Unfortunately I had a bad experience today. After ordering three meals mine being a Korean bowl chicken and chips. I received chicken and rice, I informed the lady serving us and asked for it to be changed, I also asked, as it had to be changed anyway could I please have the breaded chicken instead. She said no as it's not what you ordered. I explained that I hadn't order rice but that's what I received. She was quite rude and said well I'm not wasting the chicken breast. (So was going to pop that same chicken on chips, what if I couldn't eat rice?) So she just walked off. I when to the bar and requested to speak to a manager and explained the situation, he was understanding and took the bowl that had been return to my table and bought me a new meal. Although I appreciate mistakes happen, and I was dining in Spoons not the Ritzs I don't expect to be spoken to in the manner I was. I suspected that I would receive the same chicken, I don't want meat that has been reheated multiple times.”

“What a beautiful setting sitting by the window and watching the sun went down! The only downside was the fish, very blank.”

“Not any clean table left so had to clear it myself. Drinks arrived quickly, food soon after. How can you get a cheese and tomato panini so wrong. Someone had forgotten the cheese in both sandwich. Chips were warm like they had been hanging around for some time. Such a shame wouldn’t eat there again.”

“Still open Wetherspoons visited #130. The second and more busier Wetherspoons in Gloucester. This pub is situated on the waterside in the Gloucester Dicks area, a short walk from the main city centre area. Popped in for supper after a long walk round Gloucester. The pub was exceptionally busy when I visited. There were no free tables inside on the ground floor, so had to go upstairs to the additional seating area to find a table. On this occasion I ordered a Sticky Korean Chicken Bowl with chips and a bottle of Bulmers Red Berries. Total cost was £10.32. Food and drink arrived within seven minutes of ordering. The food was well prepared and presented, with a good amount of chips, and the Korean sauce. This certainly ranks as one of the better ones I've had. There was a slight screw up with the order, and I ended up a second (free) bottle of the Bulmers Red Berries. Happy days! This branch does appear to be slightly more expensive than The Regal Wetherspoons branch in the City. This branch is in a good location, has a good atmosphere but can get busy. It is worth a visit for affordable food and drink, if you are around the area.”
