Quick info
About Hop Kettle Gloucester Docks
Hop Kettle Gloucester Docks is a brewery taproom and bar in Gloucester, set on the dockside at 27 Commercial Rd and serving beers from Hop Kettle Brewing Co. Six real ales are on cask, with keg ales alongside, and third-pint measures let drinkers sample several beers before choosing a full glass. Street-food pop-ups from resident and visiting operators, including a noodle bar and a Thai restaurant, serve from the terrace. The building is old, and the window and terrace look over the quays and dock area. Dogs are welcome. The taproom is listed in the Good Beer Guide, and payment is by card only.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer selection, especially the real ales on cask, with one describing six to choose from and sampling them all in third pint measures. Cask and keg ales, a beer and cider pairing, and a cosmic milkshake come up close behind. The food from the resident pop-up kitchens draws praise too: one reviewer calls the Wagyu burger with cheese and bacon and truffle French fries delicious, another notes generous portions, and a third found good value. Views over the quays and dock, the old building and friendly staff are repeatedly mentioned, and one reviewer notes the dog and child friendly welcome. The recurring complaints are small. One reviewer found the kitchen closed, so had no food, and another had food delayed by a technology mishap, though they praised how staff handled it. One reviewer wished for table ordering by waiter or app. One reviewer notes that card payment only was a surprise. Reviewers also describe a busy, lively room on match day, and one reviewer reports the delayed order was handled so well they almost wanted it to happen again.

“Came here on a day trip from London. Ordered the Wagyu burger with cheese and bacon and truffle French fries. Both burger and fries were delicious. 10/10. Also enjoyed the beer and cider.”

“Kitchen was closed so no idea what the food is like but I suspect it's all 'Pop Up' so likely to be good. On the terrace, overlooking the Quay, there's a noodle bar and Thai restaurant. They have a wonderful selection of both cask and keg ales.”

“Great selection of real ales with the premises rightly mentioned in the Good Beer Guide. Fantastic old building too. There were x6 real ales on cask to choose from to which I just couldn't decide, so I decided to try them all! albeit in 3rd pint measures, which was the price of two pints at £10. Highly recommend to real ale enthusiasts.”

“Nice place with a good selection of real ales. Card payment only. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was good. Nice clean and tidy place. Good views from the window overlooking the dock area. Enjoyed my visit.”
