The Raven
Quick info
About The Raven
The Raven is an American-influenced sports bar at 81-85 Renfield St in Glasgow, open daily, with wood throughout the interior. The kitchen centres on smoked meats, serving brisket as a 400g portion and on BBQ meat trays with extra brisket. Mac & cheese with a pulled pork topper sits among the other BBQ-style plates. Rugby and football show on TVs across the bar, and a big screen anchors the sport-watching area. The drinks list runs to craft beers alongside spirits and cocktails, and darts is available for anyone who wants a game between rounds.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the smoked BBQ, with the brisket named repeatedly, from a 400gram brisket to a meat tray with extra brisket, alongside mac and cheese with a pulled pork topper, Cluck fries and onion rings. Portions are described as generous and filling. Close behind is the beer, with a large choice and one drinker steered by staff to a porter-style pick, the Arctic Fox, after saying they liked porters. Cocktails are called super good, and several mention the atmosphere, the music and the TVs showing football and rugby. A parent says staff put the rugby on straight away for his autistic son after two other bars made them feel unwelcome. Complaints are fewer but specific: one finds the beer very expensive, one notes a broken toilet door, and another mentions a cold seating area and chasing someone for napkins. One group describes being refused more pints and asked to leave on a Friday night because one of ten people was too loud, despite spending a large sum on shots and drinks.

“I took my 12 year old autistic son to the Raven on Saturday to watch the rugby. It was the 3rd bar that we had tried, we didn't feel welcome at the previous 2 bars that we had tried, both times we tried to ask if they would be showing the rugby and were interrupted to be told that we both had to order main meals for him to be allowed in (rules and rules, fair enough) we both ate in the Raven and had a few coke zeros, the rugby game wasn't on the TV but when we asked to watch it the staff were great and put it on straight away, the staff were all really nice and smiley towards him, he had a great time and has asked to come back for future games. He also said "the tunes were banging" Thank you.”

“Best place to watch sport in Glasgow. They've recently had a renovation and the new area to watch sport on the big screen is second to none. Combine that with solid pub grub, great staff and an excellent selection of beers, the Raven is increasingly becoming a glasgow institution.”

“Nice busy pub, with great food. Very generous portions. Music and football on the TVs, good choice of beer and spirits, can't ask for more!”

“Not a good service, Friday night, I wanted to order some pints and we were told no cos someone on our group was a bit too “loud”. They refuse serving us and said the reason was because if we ordered our friend will stay longer and they didn’t wanted that. They asked us to leave the premises as 1 of 10 people was being a bit too loud. Even after spending around £120+ on shots and drinks. Very disappointed about this establishment and never coming back. A pub that does not allow you to have fun and be “loud” what a joke.”

“Visited Glasgow and we went to The Raven both days. Didn't have food but it looked good! Great atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and efficient and good choice of drinks. Would recommend and will come back next time we visit.”
