Saint Luke's & The Winged Ox is a bar and grill at 17 Bain St in Glasgow, set inside a former church. Gigs and live music are held at the venue, which makes it a place to eat before a show, with the Barrowland Ballroom nearby. Customer Review Summary
Brisket is the dish reviewers name most, whether as a beef brisket chilli beside a burger or chosen on a recommendation, and one calls it the bomb. Close behind are a vegan burger described as the best one a reviewer has had and the wee nachos, while another reviewer says the staff were helpful with food allergies. Most come around gigs and describe friendly, welcoming staff from the door to the bar, a large group served all at once after pre-ordering, and tables rearranged so early arrivals could stay as long as they needed. The caveats are timing and temperature. A busy pre-concert rush slowed the food, one Friday walk-in without a reservation was quoted an hour for a table and left it, and one diner found the loaded fries lukewarm. Even so, when the food ran late before a concert, staff offered a discount for the delay without being asked.

“We were a group of 18 people, due to the group size we were asked to pre order, which was really helpful. Food was delicious, plentiful, hot and amazingly for a group our size it was all served at the same time. The staff even arranged table service for drinks to save us waiting at the bar as we were attending a gig there. Can not recommend highly enough. From the first enquiry the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The gentleman who seated up (sorry, did not catch his name) was extremely helpful, friendly and patient- nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all for making it such a great night.”

“Great food in a great place before a gig. That brisket was the bomb! It was absolutely rammed before the concert, so the food took a little longer than you’d expect. The staff were brilliant though — really attentive and even offered us 50% off because of the delay, despite us not complaining! Incredible! Can’t fault the place. Great food, great service and a cracking atmosphere.”

“Venue is a good size, not too big. Able to get a good view and sound no matter where you are. Drinks service was quick. Easy to get in and out. Plenty of parking nearby too. Recommended for gigs etc. Updated for Scotland game where you got a welcome half time pie.”

“We arrived a bit earlier than expected and it was no problem to fit us in. The food was lovely & have to say best vegan burger I've ever had! We were going to the Barrowland Ballroom for a gig and were ridiculously early so the staff made slight changes to tables to allow us to stay as long as we needed which was above and beyond! We will definitely be back next time we're in Glasgow.”
