Customer Review Summary

The buffet draws the most attention: a Sunday breakfast spread with pink chai, an iftar buffet praised for Kabuli Pulao and Namkin Mutton Karahi, and a dinner buffet where one diner singled out the Asian rice pudding and pistachio custard. Beyond the buffet, one reviewer calls the Nihari the best they have had, with meat falling off the bone, and others praise the generous portions. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, including during birthday visits. The dinner buffet draws the sharpest criticism. One reviewer found only kheer and custard in the dessert section, two sauces, a salad of onions, cucumber and hummus, and cold curries, with dishes already finished at the start, though Achari Aloo was a bright spot. Another describes a long wait at reception and staff busy with group bookings. A diner reports finding a hair in the Charsi Lamb Karahi, and another mentions a dirty table and smelly chicken kebabs. Several note the lack of parking. One reviewer was handed mint tea on the house on arrival.

“Absolutely amazing food and amazing staff I am from huyton Liverpool, was travelling from Edinburgh to loch lomond and then glasgow, had an opportunity to dine in at this lovely place, and found it totally amazing. The food & ambience were great. Staff was well dressed and well trained on customer service, explained the menu well to me. Just one small suggestion that if they can assign one waiter to look into the hall if some one needs anything. Rest totally amazing”

“We visited on 3/08/2026 for Buffet Dinner. Their management is purely lack of professionalism and really don’t know when the tables would be available for the customers who are waiting at their reception for more than 50 minutes. They even don’t know how to manage customers at reception. They charge £19.99 per person for buffet which they called ‘Grand Buffet Dinner’, but the reality is the number of dishes they have available in their restaurant are far less than they advertised in their Buffet menu. Infact they serve very few food dishes in small dishes only. They have ONLY Kheer and custard available in their Desert section, while they advertise more than 7 sweet dishes to attract customers. The food taste is not bad but the level of money they are charging per person can not justify the number of dishes they are presented. When enquired about missing dishes so they answered that the dishes are finished. Imagine you go for buffet dinner at their starting time and pay for full amount of money but dishes are missing because they are already finished at the beginning of buffet time. Their sauce section only have two sauces available and their salad section is just full of onions, cucumbers and humus only. The desi curries were good in taste but all dishes were cold. The only dish is worth to try is Achari Aloo. They advertise massively on tiktok about their buffet dinner but they don’t have variety of dishes to offer to their customers at all. Their competitors World Buffet in Glasgow city are charging same amount but presenting more than 30/40 dishes under one roof with high quality. Being a customer of Namak Mandi the overall experience is far below the average. And another thing to mention is that there is no parking available at all so u need to try your luck to find parking in near by streets while there are lots of road works going on as well. Their service staff were so busy to serve only the group bookings and they totally ignored the customers who walked in for their Grand Buffet Dinner. 3 stars for the taste and only one star for rest of the buffet experience.”

“This excellent establishment was recommended by a friend. I was amazed to find the restaurant situated in the old Norfolk St Library where i used to go in the late 1950's with my grandmother. The refurbed interior is indeed beautiful. Very grand and Chic with a central chandelier. It is a huge restaurant room fit for large parties or indeed any occasion. There is a huge choice of starters and mains. Portions are very generous and menu prices are very reasonable. We were given mint tea on the house on arrival very helpful in aiding the digestion. The staff will answer any menu questions you may have. They are very friendly and hospitable. We had the good fortune to meet owner Nadi Ali Khan with whom we had a great friendly chat. He informed us of their unique Sunday Breakfast buffet at an astonishing £7.99 per head and even better Monday and Tuesday , all you can eat buffet night at £19.99 per head. Music evenings are being planned for the future. We discussed music and in particular the much revered "Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan." Nadi was a most gracious host and welcomed us back to try out a buffet night. He wont have to ask twice. Many delicious treats await you in this cornucopia of asian delights.Thoroughly recommended.😏 Quick return trip sunday morning 14th June for All you can eat breakfast buffet. I mentioned in my last post the amazing price of £7.99. It was a fantastic, unusual breakfast experience. A welcome change from traditional scottish fry up Much healthier😏👍 See pics for the amazing range of food on offer. Price includes 2 kinds of delicious Chai (tea). Pink Chai was very nice. Next to try is the Big buffet.Only served Mondays and Tuesdays. Cant wait😇 Third visit in a week and the third part of the What's on offer at Namak Mandi Jigsaw. The title Namak Mandi means Salt Market which is amazing cosidering their proximity to Glasgow's very own historic Salt Market which culminates at Glasgow cross Tolbooth clocktower. Buffet choice and quality of dishes tonight were excellent, as expected. An excellent array of starters could be your undoing. Pace yourself for the main course delights. Included is a range of impressive desserts, the best being the asian rice pudding and Pistachio flavour custard. The buffet costs £19.99 per head. Worth every penny for the quality and quantity of whats on offer. Highly recommended.🤗”

“I am from Newcastle was in Glasgow today, went for late lunch at Namak Mandi, wasn’t disappointed at all, order the Nihari, it’s probably the best Nihari I have had in recent times, and am a Nihari lover, tried it at so many different restaurant in Birmingham, Bradford etc but this was my absolute favourite, very flavourful, good level of spice, unique presentation and the meat was cooked perfectly, was literally falling of the bone.Gold star ⭐ Service, the Arabic guy who served us was very polite and humble, but the highlight was the Iranian chef or manager , am very bad with names so don’t remember, he was so humble, polite spoke to my mom with utmost respect care and smile, went all the way to ask how the food was and the service etc, we actually did not expect this kind of service so we were happily shocked.. great team and that lovely irani gentleman is a great asset to your company, just a message to the owner, please keep him and the team happy and appreciate them, so they continue to represent your brand to all customer in this same manner. A Great brand image is built by these kind of employees. Also ordered mix Pakoras, Chips, kheema Naan and Masala Chai 👌👌👏”
