Quick info
About Sam’s Restaurant Clydebank
Pasta at Sam's Restaurant Clydebank can arrive in an edible bowl made from pizza dough, so the base of the dish comes as part of the meal. The Italian kitchen on Rockbank Place in Glasgow runs a menu of around 78 dishes, with rigatoni, primavera and lasagna among the pasta options and starters such as Prosciutto and Verdure Arrosto. Sourdough bread is made in house, and Bread & Olives opens the list. The restaurant sits on the outskirts rather than in the city centre, and it opens Tuesday to Sunday, with Mondays closed. Diners can bring their own wine for a corkage charge, and a 10% service charge is added to the bill. Itison vouchers are accepted and can be used any day of the week. Dogs are welcome alongside their owners, and birthday cakes are carried out to the table with singing.

Customer Review Summary
Pasta is the center of nearly every account here, and the edible bowl made from pizza dough draws the most attention, with diners describing the primavera and a rigatoni genovese served in it as a novelty that doubles as a taste of the pizza base. Close behind sits the lasagna, which one reviewer said tasted like somebody's nonna was cooking in the back, alongside house made sourdough bread. Others single out mozzarella sticks, the Cajun chicken strip starter in a light tempura batter, and a risotto. Several mention the bring your own bottle arrangement and corkage, and the staff are repeatedly called lovely and helpful, with one table's complicated dietary needs accommodated. The complaints are fewer but pointed: one diner reports chicken that arrived lukewarm and tough, an undercooked pizza and a tiramisu with no coffee flavour, served by a single server run off her feet, and both critical reviews object to the added service charge and portion size. A birthday table recalls a cake brought out and the room singing.

“We found this place quite accidentally after driving around and trying to find somewhere we could eat and it was literally heaven sent....I had the lasagna and I swear someone's little nonna is back there cooking it. They make their own sourdough bread and its to die for....everything was amazing.”

“We had a beautiful family meal here on Easter Sunday. Everything was delicious, definitely one of the nicest pasta’s I’ve had for a long time. The team were so lovely, thank you for a great meal!”

“First and last time in Sam's - l ordered Chicken with mushroom sauce, it arrived very quickly, not hot, and the chicken "breast" was processed and tough. One person serving run off her feet. To finish l ordered a coffee which was again not hot and a tiramasu which had no coffee flavour. My husband had a pizza ( under cooked) - we paid £68 for the pleasure - oh and they have the cheek to add a 10% service charge. The whole place was a huge dissapointment. - stay clear.”

“£15 for what i would call a kids portion of pasta. Paid £3.75 for a bottle of beer in Tesco and paid £5.95 corkage. Food quality however was excellent.”

“Visited the restaurant yesterday and the young waitress was absolutely lovely. Before we got our food I remember saying "she's great, definitely going to give her a tip" (there was a 10% service charge on the bill, so we felt that was …”
