Customer Review Summary

Service is what reviewers raise most at Piccolo Mondo, describing staff as friendly, warm, polite and thoughtful. One reviewer says the waiters went out of their way to cook dishes that were not on the menu, and another notes flexible booking on the spot for pop-in guests. Food follows close behind, with the lasagne praised as creamy and cheesy rather than full of pasta, along with a light, creamy cheesecake and a festive turkey dinner. Several mention a live pianist, and a few call the prices reasonable and the lunch deal good. The caveats are specific. One diner found the carbonara made with cream and called that a straight no for authentic Italian cooking. Another says the menu is thin on gluten free and vegan crossover options, and one noticed the flooring could be improved. Reviewers who stayed nearby for work describe returning for a second night after a first meal.

“I had to go to Glasgow for a business event and stayed at a hotel near the airport. I read reviews about this restaurant and decided to try my luck as I wanted some good food rather than some hotel food and I'm so very glad that I did. I stay and eat at some really nice places and I have to say this is up there. The service for some of the best I've ever received. I think the gentleman's name was John or James and he was absolutely superb, affectionate, kind and very professional. The food was fantastic. Good portion sizes and very reasonable prices. I left a £20 tip and I wish I could have left more because they deserved it.. They even had a pianist who was great and a really nice chap as well. Thanks for a lovely evening”

“Gifted a meal here by a relative so we went along for lunch. Surprisingly quiet for the time of day and we were warmly greeted by staff on entry. Food was good and the service was excellent.”
  • Michael Windle
“Out for a work meal while away and it was such a good find. Brilliant flavours and really friendly service. Would recommend highly.”
  • Ann Russell
“Visited the resaurant again today. This time a Birthday treat from my fabulous granddaughter. I knew I would enjoy it and hoped she would. A completely new experience for her. She adored it. Just everything. The restaurant itself. The delicious food and mostly the service by experienced and knowledgable waiters who really made our day so amazing. Thank you and see you again soon. Please don't change.”
  • Karen
“We had a range of dishes from the menu and they were surprisingly disappointing. The carbonara had cream, I should have known better. I understand cream is more convenient in a busy restaurant but it's a straightforward no when creating authentic Italian food.”
